Getrag & NP 205

What is the splined shaft called that locks or joins the Getrag & Transfer case together? Can you still buy this part? I heard that it needs to be replaced when overhauling. I am about to buy a Southbend clutch, and send the Jetrag out for a rebuild, I recently purchased the rear transmission support bushings for it, upper & lowers, I am trying to get everything together as to have minimal down time. Can you also get a gasket kit for the NP 205 transfer case from say Napa auto parts? And what can you do for the annoying 4x4 shifter handle rattle? Bushing kit or what?

For the t-case shift rattle, do a search on that very topic. There is a bushing kit that you can install.



The adaptor sleeve is still available. If yours is in good shape, I'd leave it, though I have had them strip out and leave me on the side of the road.



I'd get the NP205 seal/gasket kit from Quad4x4 et al, just because NAPA is likely to have Felpro or whatever relabelled under their name, and it has a reputation for being substandard quality.

Tcase shifter rattle

When I got mine it had a foam insulation tube from the hardware store designed for 3/4 or 1" copper pipe. It was slit, installed on the shifter under the boot, and wrapped like crazy in duct tape.

I upgraded to electrical tape when I reassembled the truck.

Who knows, but I don't have rattle.

Chunter theres a guy close to me in Shop Springs, TN under the name of Gibbs Garage who has a really good reputation on these trannys, he comes highly recommended, he told me 600. 00 for rebuild and him furnish everything if its not extensive, and thats me doing the R&R, thanks Daniel for the info same to you Moab4x4, I appreciate the help.

hotram03 - Thanks for the info and please let me know how your rebuild turns out. If I cannot find a local transmission shop in the PNW that knows G360s I may see if Gibbs can rebuild mine when the time comes.
