Getrag Oil Filter

Question for those using the oil filter that fits on pto opening. Curious of those using it, if and when you check it, do you find any metal or brass on the metal near filter. I checked mine soon after rebuild and after several thousand miles, and find brass dust on the metal. It's hard to tell whats in filter it self. My trans seems to be getting noisier, growls more in 1 an 2 idling around and sandy sound in bearings at speeds. Oil was clean other than fine brass by filter. Or maybe noise, is do to radio quit working?

Did you overfill the trans by 1 quart? And if you're getting brass, something is coming apart for sure. Maybe put a magnet on the other PTO cover to see if you catch any steel dust. If you don't want to open the trans again, just stick it on the outside. The metal will stick to the inside of the cover.

I've used one on both my old Getrag and the NV4500HD - neither showed any metal shavings of any kind . Trans oil analysis has also been negative for wear matals in both trannys.
