GETRAG: Old style, New style

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of there being differences in the Getrag during its applications years? Niki ask that of me and I simply have no information what so ever. Is everything interchangable through the production run year to year?

The only difference I know about is the case design. On the early trans, you need to pull the reverse idler gear, to get the countershaft cluster out of the bottom of the trans. The newer trans case has a 'bubble' on the side that allows the countershaft cluster to slide out around the reverse idler gear. The FSM talks about this. I can't remember any other differences.

Those were the only differences I remember, too. I have been into both styles, and it appeared everything else interchanged.

I too think the case difference is the only issue. I know all the rebuild kits and parts I have seen are for 89-93.
