Howdy,

I thought that read somewhere in here that a copy of a Getrag service manual was floating around in PFD format. Does anybody know where I can obtain a copy. I'm putting the old box back together and I need to know how much end play the mainshaft is suppose to have?

and I'll reply with the attachment.

BTW it's in .pdf format.

A PFD is a personal floatation device :-laf Of course if the Getrag is slowly sinking, then perhaps a really large PFD would be appropriate

end play

Zero end play. It is 'preloaded'. And that is a tricky job. Too much preload and you will kill the pocket bearing. Loose, you will have other problems. I don't have a book but go by 50 years of working on stuff. The counter shaft preload setup is equally important.
