A while back there was some posts about the shift tower boot on the Getrag G360 having a small slit in it and of it being glued shut, boot replaced ect.

I replaced mine 2X because of this slit.

It looks like the little slit is supposed to be there. Two new boots had it. It appears to be a vent for the trans so there may be a little oil coming out of it.
 
I don't believe that the slit is for venting as there is a vent in the case just ahead of the shift area. The slit in mine was far from being a clean cut and I glued it shut. There is still a leak that I have to chase down.

If I remember right, I think that I glued mine also. I pressure washed the transmission off, glued the boot, and its still clean. Just my 2cents worth.
