Hey Guy's have a 93 IC Motor in my crewcab and just changed the injection pump with a Known good pump with 10,000 on it any way I also added POD's and running down the road it run's Great but I hit the go Pedal and I can hit 1200 or Higher in the matter of Sec's I am heading back home to So Cal Via 395 and have a good sized load with me .What Can I do or What is the Cause of the high EGT's ? To much Fuel or not enough Air Maybe ?

HELP I'm Scratchin My Head on this 1 .

pods do need more air than the lil oems.As long as the egts taper off once you get to speed and are controllable with the load you have.I can spike my egts pretty bad on hard accel but have no problem towing

towing flat it is ok but hill's kill me so on way home tomorrow i am just going to slow it down n go from there. thank you for the help .

Val, when I had my POD's in the '93 I could get toasty real quick also, steady cruise was ok till I hit a hill, then I had to watch real closely. Watcha'
dragging home now !!?? LOL!

Well Made it home yeah she got Toasty but we made it home with no problem's I am going to turn the fuel down some because when we were putting the Pump in I turned it 2 turn's Past colar so I am going to back it down some . as for what I was Bringing home I brought your new frame home if you need it ???

Yes aftermarket pin plus I turned the fuel up more I think that is My problem .I think it's to much fuel I have a stock fuel pin I May try that and see also .

The stock fuel pin will drop EGt's. I am running a stock fuel pin with the big injectors I have. I have no EGT problems towing.

I would change the pin out before touching the fuel screw. If the pin cures the EGT's then run the fueling where its at.

I have always believed that a Diesel is basically just an air pump - air in - add fuel - air out. This combination has to be balanced to keep every thing within the normal range so that egts don't go to high. I have completely open air intake with a 4" SS tube running through a waste gated PDRHX35 and 3" plumbing to a Banks IC which is about 40% larger than the OEM IC. On the outlet side of the IC running through Tworlines' 3" plumbing into the intake manifold. My injectors are DD3+. These injectors are 2nd gen with 1st gen bodies. To my knowledge there were only 2 sets built for 1st gens. This setup has allowed my truck to produce 394 RWHP on #2 and 440 RWHP with W/M. This is the only time I have seen high EGTs - 1450 degrees - on the dyno. I am also running Snow W/M with .375 and .625 tips. It is an early Stage II setup. Water methanol injection comes on at about 20psi and. It is also come on with higher EGTs but I can not get my EGTs over 1000 degrees running Cabage Hill - desert floor up to about 4000 foot - out side Pendelton Or towing 8000 lbs.

On the exhaust side I am running a custom 4" installed by Rip at Source Automotive. This has a 3"X4" 2nd gen down pipe which replaces the 2 90 degree bends with 2 45 degree bends and flows through a free flow thru muffler.

In short I have tried to improve the movement of air into the IC and from there into the engine. I like my current set up but due to the fact that my boost is lower, about 32 psi I am thinking about my next move to get boost back up to about 38 psi.

Sorry if this is a little long winded.

Bob

I have only done a few 1st gens but all the same ideas apply more fuel requires more air to stay in the safe zone.

Philip you were right I swapped the fuel pin to stock she still run's Great but the EGT's aren't going through the roof. Thank you for the Help.

After market fuel pins are made for performance. Most of the time they throw to much fuel towing.

Glad that was a simple fix.
