Yep it's time for the "Lets replace the evaporator core" show with your host Tim and backup support from Derby Hospital (With any luck minimal bloodloss)

Anyhow I have read the two fantastic threads on the boards on how to go about this revolting job that dodge gets 14 hours on ther 5 star books for. And I think for the Evap and Heater Core I want to go O. E. M

What part numbers are the Evap and Heater Core?

Also are all 98+ compressors Nippondenso? (have not looked yet)

Do I really need to get an OEM Accumulator or can I use a 4 seasons for that?

#@$%! #@$%! Yes I need a compressor too #@$%! #@$%! The phone rang I had to go out on a call and I disconnected my equipment while leak testing to make sure I needed a core. So I hopped in and went. Too bad the defroster was on ... POW went the bypass as Nitrogen really does not make the system happy.

Can't help you out on this job, but when working on your brakes make sure you don't push on the pedal with the calipers off! :-laf

I just had that same thing done to mine becasue I didn't want the headache of it all. Ran me about $580 or so when it was all said and done. I didn't stick around to watch but it must be a real PITA becasue I couldn't hardly find any shops around here that would even attempt it. Good luck though. You are a braver man than I!

The evap part of the job isnt that bad to do. I did it in 6 hours taking my time. I bet I could do it in 4 next time .

Not sure what the other threads say but I let the dash lay on the pass seat and I pulled it out of the way with one arm and wiggled the evap box out with the other. Just remember to dissconnect everything ( control lines, heater hoses, vacuum lines etc. ).

I used a 4 seasons evap and accumulator. . no problems yet.

Good luck!

Tim, Frankie has a french guy that used to work for a dodge dealer that does them cheap. During the summer the guy does like ten a day. I've gotta get mine done before the heat.
