I know this subject has been discussed to nausium, but I still have one question. On my 97' 1500 gasser, the passenger side had to "oh S*&%" handles... one on the headliner next to the window, and the other running along the side of the window between the side window and the windshield. Now that truck was a sport edition. I now own a 2500 diesel sport, all the same excpet its a diesel, and there is only on handle on the passenger side, its the one that runs along between the passenger window and the windshield. Now my question is whether or not that is how everyone has it, or do some people have both handles or even none at all. If it is supposed to have both, I damn sure feel that I am entitled to it and should have every right to march on over to the dealer for a little install. Now if no-one has both of them, then i can understand and wont be taking a trip. The reason why this bothers me so much is cause I just had shoulder surgery and when I get into the passenger side( I cant drive as of yet cause of the surgery), it is very painful to grab on that side handle to get in, and it does no good while we are driving to use it cause it is too far out in front of me to reach and help stabalize my body for bumps(I have to keep the arm still and not jar it). My brothers 1500 has both handles and it is much easier and comfortable to ride around in it. Sorry about the length of this, just venting a little frustration. Any thoughts????

only one handle on the pass. side in all the trucks i've seen.

had to go look to be sure,,

01- just on the a pillar

94- headliner & a pillar

Handles

My 99 gasser had two but my 01 has only one on the pillar I was wondering the same thing and keep forgetting to ask the part guy at the local 5 star about it.

Our 2001 came less the roof handle. I ordered one from the dealer and installed it. Kit comes with screws and the needed mounts were under the headliner. Just cut out the liner with a utility knife so handle spacers could touch roof and installed screws. Fifteen minute job. Sorry, no part numbers

Both handles came on trucks up to early 01 models. But on the rear wheel disc 01. 5's they deleted the one handle. Other deleted/changed items are lighted ignition trim ring, center seat fabric is not the same as on the seats, plastic trim on tailgate is gone, different camper special overload springs. There may be other deletions but this is what I know of. 02's have more deletions. Maybe the rear discs cost more and they wanted to save some money elsewhere.

I have both!

But I have the early 01:( Don't get me wrong, I love my truck but I was too impatient to order my truck in the late model year. ;)

If I remember right, '96 through early 2001 SLT's came with both roof and A pillar handles as standard fare from the factory. I noticed when the 2001. 5's came out, Dodge deleted the roof handle all together... couldn't even order it from the factory.

My 95 SLT only has one handle(roof), and I think back in the 94-95 you had to have the Travel pkg to get both handles(?). My 96 ST had both handles as standard equipment.

It's nothing that a trip to the parts counter can't fix, but since it was no longer factory standard equipment, they don't 'owe' you one. You could try using your shoulder surgery for them to install one under 'goodwill' customer satisfaction.
