Attention: TDR Forum Junkies This is my first real post since I have become a TDR member. My first Dodge pickup I bought new in 72. A 250 with 400 V8. Kept it until 93. That's about 21 yrs. What made me get rid of it was the air conditioning went out and I saw this new 93 3500 dually on the lot at a price I could'nt refuse. It now has 103K miles on it and planning to make one more long trip this year. I have had no big problems other than the head light switch burning out, new brakes, Dodge replaced the clutch at 33k. Since I've been a TDR member I have read all the edition I have received plus ordered past editions of TDR Mag. I feel as I'm reading a medical book because everything I read about I have. I have never changed manual transmission oil or the differentai oil. The Dodge owners manual says it does not have to be changed periodially.
This week I'm changing oil in both transmission and rear end. I'm just using the standard oil. I just greased the wheel bearings and put new break pads on and the rear shoes are OK. Reading about replacing a Getrag transmission is something I do not want to do as soon as we return in Sep or Oct I will order a new 6 speed 3500 with all the frills.
If anyone has any other suggestions that I should check, let me know. I really do not want to sell this truck but my wife says we need a full back seat and she's tired of having a wip lash every time we go over a bump. Also I made a mistake and we drove a new 6 speed last week now we can hardly wait till we get back.
