If one were to dedicate his 98 12 valve to off-road only use, and if one were to block off the EGR in order to make other modifications, what would one do to the sensor in order to not have the “Check Engine” light stay on?

Could a person put a resistor in the electrical connection, or somehow supply vacuum differently, or what?

I don’t understand how the sensor works at the EGR unit, and therefore can’t even make a guess at how to block the sensor from turning on the light.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

There are a couple people who sell EGR blokoff kits for my other car (Dodge Neon) I'll check with them, I know they include a resistor as part of the kit that supposedly gets rid of the CEL. Once I have an answer on the resistor value I'll post back.

To my knowledge there is no way around this, I hope I am wrong but I don't think so. Just pull the dash and remove the bulb, it only takes about 5 minutes.

From another Neon owner, this resistor trick is not always successful, but it's worth a shot. "12k 5% i think 10 watts" and for the location: "Resistor is meant to be soldered in between the 2 wires leading to the egr transducer. " It may or may not apply here, but it's a starting point.
