It happen within 100 miles and so much fuel was in the oil pan it pumped it out the vent. We have checked the injectors, cp3 pump and ran it without the valve cover to check the lines for leaks. It will be a noticable amount just driving it for 15 minutes. Has anybody else had this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Either you have an injector sticking open or a cracked injector, the only way to check for a cracked injector is with a scanner and put the fuel rail pressure to max and with a piece of cardboard use it to find the fuel spraying, never stick your hand or face around the engine when you have a fuel leak, the fuel has over 20,000 psi and will pierce your skin with ease.

Just had a similar problem on the '05 this week, and it turns out it was one of the o rings that was nicked and leaking fuel.

Had a stage cp3, so we installed it after the problem. They found one cracked injector body today. Rechecking lines and seals tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions. We'll keep trying.

I have fuel in my oil as well. My oil level has risen to the 3 on the cummins part number on my dipstick. It was there shortly after I bought the truck and so I drained some oil thinking someone overfilled it. I don't think the truck has had a pressure box on it. The second owner never put any "chip" on it. I guess I will have to get it looked at. Sticking injector is the most likely cause followed by cracked body, then lines or seals. Is it real hard on the engine to have diesel in the oil.

Actually a pressure box will do it real easy, the injectors are already at max psi, then you add more pressure and it is the only way you will get a cracked injector, had chrysler threten to come to the dealership a couple of times because trucks had chips on their trucks but I replaced the injectors anyways under warrenty

we usually use a bucket of dyed fuel.

interupt lines and hook direct to bucket. then look with special lite. can be front pump seal. they are harder to spot. usually elimination process, dont see any inj problems. must be pump

All the seals and tubes to the injectors were replaced and so far so good. By the way we intalled some injectors and a stage 3 cp3 from industrial injection, the power is awesome. It runs smoother than ever. Thanks for all the help, I knew count on the TDR crew.

I have my truck at the shop right now. They could not find any leaks at the injectors with the dyed fuel. They also could not find any leaks at the cp3 either. They are waiting on the diagnostic tool so they can test the cr injectors. Hopefully they can find the problem. It would be nice to get to the bottom of things. When he shut down different cylinders the engine didn't sound much different between each one. How do they check for injectors sticking open?

they don't have a tool to check the common rails? is this a dealership? usually I would run the truck in neutral at 1700 rpms and note when the truck would run smoother, or I would drive the truck at the same rpms but under a load and try to listen for a knock, then I would kill each cylinder till I heard the knock go away.

Now if you are testing the injector return you have to use a special fitting to tap into the injector return and cp3 return, then you run the truck and manually cut out each injector by blocking out the line at the fuel rail and finding which injector is leaking the most, but you wouldn't need this test if you have fuel in the oil.

They just received the tool to test injectors on Friday. This is not a dealership but a diesel shop. Injectors are ~ 1/2 price here compared to the dealer. The truck does run a little rough and knocks a bit when you initially start it up. They suggest changing all 6 injectors if more that 3 are bad. Since they've all seen the same filtration and fuel. Hopefully Tuesday I'll have my truck back and not too big of bill. With the dye in the fuel upon dissassembly they should find the leak. Thanks for the advice.
