Well I finally got my act together and getting a DTT trans. Having Fred Swanson do it. Those with no stock trans, did you loose or gain any smoke. I love being able to lug the trans with the boxes on when people tailgate me. Wasn't sure if because the Tq is more positive that it would build boost faster.

I gained smoke since my truck actually can take the power bombs now and the stock trans coulndt!

You will love the trans!!!!! did you get the smart controller?

Ian

I found that the truck spools a little slower with the DTT because the tc is so tight that rpm doesn't shoot up when you throttle up. So in other words I think you will still be pleased with smoke production. :p

The smart controler will hold 3rd until a certain speed and downshift back to third about 2mph less than when it upshifts. So if you set the box to shift into od at 50mph the truck will automatically downshift into 3rd at about 48mph. It also controls 3rd and 2nd gear lockup. I love it, and the trans. Just wait, you will be amazed at the difference in your truck after the install.

well you know where to look

the smart controller as described above is WELL WORTH THE MONEY I love the 2nd gear lockup when slowing down, its like having a manual but only in a bult auto. I would take a built auto over a manual anyday!!!!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I love mine!!

Ah ya might want to buy a set of tires, the trans will be turning them alot easier now!!

Love My New Trans

Well Fred and I pulled, rebuilt and installed my DTT trans on saturday. That even included a trip to the dealer for a part that I had broke. I got there friday night droped off the truck and started work on it saturday morning. It was really fun to see and help rebuilding it. Learned a ton by helping out. After seeing how burnt my clutches were there is no way I'd suggest just doing a VB and TQ. If you have your trans apart do it right. And to see all those billet parts going in was great. And to see a dead truck roll under its own power was great. After all the pressure testing and test driving was done. the boxes were turned up and the smile hasn't worn off yet. Would like to thank Fred for a great and HOT 117 weekend. He built a great trans and has another happy customer. If your going to do a trans make sure to have Fred do it for you. Well worth the drive.

Fred did mine many years ago and its worked out great. The transmission controller is worth it's weight in gold. The only thing negative about it is it sets off the CEL light on a Ca truck. Black electrical tape to the rescue! :) :) Is he working out of the new garage now? A/C? 117 degrees,YIKES!
