Getting manual control of air conditioner?

On my Honda Element I was able to do a few steps to the PCM that allowed me to turn on the air conditioner manually even when it was in defrost rather than have it come on each time I selected defrost. I'm curious if this is possible on my 2016 Ram?

Not sure of your trim level, but with the Laramie/8.4 radio, the a/c does not run with the defrost mode. I can turn the a/c on with a button push, which I usually do.

Just push the A/C button in manual mode

the AC does run in defrost, to help take the humidity out of the air. no matter if you select ac on or off. the compressor will run while in defrost.
i don't know of a way to make it manual.

I think Killer is right on this one. It wont light the light in the AC control, but the compressor will run if you just push the defrost button. Now if you go to manual with defrost selected, I'm not sure what happens then.

I was pretty sure the AC comes on in the defrost mode, thanks for confirming Killer. I had no idea it kicked on when I turned the wipers on but I did notice it came on when it wasn't in defrost which got me headed down this path to begin with. Thanks for the help.
