Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) getting ready to adjust valves and maybe new injectors

I have about 120k on my truck (see below) and I know that I am in the mileage/time frame to check and adjust the valves. Never done anything like this but from some of the descriptions its seems pretty easy.



What tools do I need and any good tips? Any links to good write ups here or elsewhere on the proceedure.



Also I figure while I have the valve cover off I may throw in some mild injectors (thinking RV275's or similar).



What do I need tools, parts, etc for the injector R&R. Any good write ups and/or tips and tricks.

Installing Larger ISB Injectors

Normal tools plus a inch pound torque wrench.

I think if you do a search on TDR you'll find the valve adjust. Just make sure you work the valves so they are positioned properly. If it's your first time doing valve adjust of any kind you might want to just plan on doing it two or three times. You'd be surprised how you'll understand better what it takes to make sure the valve lash is proper. It's not hard at all but be precise and don't be in a rush.

Engine Barring Tool is worth its weight in gold when doing valves. (I also picked up 2 30" 1/2 drive extensions that allow me to easily and accurately rotate the engine while standing in front of the truck watching timing marks and rockers. )

For the injectors... although not "needed"... . the injector tube puller and the injector puller make the job a no-brainer. (no foul language)

I checked my valve lash, for the first time, at 350,000 and found them in tolerance. Readjusted to tight end of range with no performance difference but the engine does seem quieter.
