I am getting ready to order guages for the truck. I am going to get pyrometer and boost. I am considering a temp guage for the transmission but not sure if it is really needed. I have a 5 speed manual. What are ya'lls thoughts? preference in brands? I was thinking of getting a plate that would fit in the cubby hole below the ac controls. Does any company make a plate that would work for that? Last question, is there anyone in the Mckinney ( North of Dallas) Texas area that would mind helping out with the pyro probe install? I have a drill but no tap and dye...

Just got my DiPricol EGT and 60psi Boost gauges in from Geno's. Haven't installed them yet, but I'm sure impressed with Geno's service and all the installation tips, etc. that they give you. I too am installing the gauges in the cubby. I plan on making my own plate as I own a sheet metal fab company, but you can get one from Quadzilla (do a search). I didn't feel the need to monitor transmission tems with my 6 spd. Sorry, can't help with the tap and die (too far away!!!)

Good luck

Dave

I have the Autometer phantom series in my truck, I have been real happy with them. I have EGT, Boost, trans and oil temp. I have the three gauge mount in the cubby I got it from www.quadzillapower.com the only problem I had was the holes were 2" and my gauges were 2 1/16" so I had to open the holes up a little with a file. I think they sell two and three hole plates. I saw in the latest TDR that Autometer is making a cubby plate that angles the gauges at the driver, I checked thier web site and did not see it but there was a picture in the add in the magizine.

How do you like the ranchhand grill guard? looks real nice, did you have to modify the truck at all? What model is it if I wanted to order one, thanks.

I ordered the Autometer gauges too. Phantom series. Waiting on 2 of them to arrive.

Just FYI... Autometer released last week a 0-60 Boost gauge finally. Also they have the triple pod dash mount for the 03-04 models.

I ordered DiPricols through Genos. I got a 35 psi boost gage and a pyro. They match the Dodge gage faces very well. They also match well at night.

I put my boost gage in an SRT-10 pillar (Geno's sells these now) and the pyro in an Autometer single column mount. The picture in Genos catalog shows it offset to the right, but for the 3rd gen's it is offset to the left. The only thing it blocks is the odometer. If I lean about 6" to the right, I can see that. I originally planned to put the pyro in the pillar and the boost gage on the column, but with all the fittings, the boost gage didn't fit well in the mount (it wanted to crimp off the hose). I needed to lightly sand the Autometer mount to fit the pyro, but nothing much at all. The pillar mount held either gage just fine.

Geno's is a great bunch to order from. They have good instructions and provide a boost bolt for the boost gage. (See my thread on my boost gage install here: http://www.tdr1.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=101169

I'm real happy with this setup as the gages are not far from my normal line of sight. I have pictures at home of this setup (day and night) if anyone is interested.

I really like the ranchhand. It held up well to a whitetailed doe at about 35 to 40 miles per hour without any damage. the hit was in the center at its strongest point and the deer was not very big either. I installed it myself in about an 1 hour and a half. It mounts through the bumper to the mounts were the tow hooks are (tow hooks have to be removed) and it goes under and around to the mounting points of the actual bumper and t\bolts in there. Other than losing the tow hooks, no modification to the truck is done at all. No drilling at all.

As for the model it is the grille guard made for the 03 and newer ram heavy duties, they make only one.

On mine I added the "L" brackets for the lights. what I did was I had some 3x5 angle iron cut 2 inches wide and bolted the 3 inch side to the honeycomb screen and used the 5 inch side as the light mount.

I paid $415 at the farm supply place that I bought it from.

I put a temp gauge in my five speed and have neer seen a temp reading higher than 180°. It may get higher with summer approaching but I wouldn't guess much. If you have a place for a gauge it doesn't hurt but I don't believe you NEED one.

Thanks for the info on the Ranchhand, I gave them a call as well, $450 plus $90 for shipping and they said it may get chipped up in shipping up to MA. I like the fact that it mounts to where the tow hooks go as that should make it pretty strong.

Me, too !

Check out my pics in the Reader's Rigs section. The one picture is not great, but it will give you an idea.

I purchased my gauge mount from Colorado Diesel.

If you are interested, call Colorado Diesel at (303-660-9986)

Ask for Tyler.

Hope this helps... ... let me know how it works for you.

I'll put in a plug for Isspro. I love their full-sweep EV series electric gauges, and they have some outstanding customer service.

Di-Pricol gauges

We have Di-pricol gauges with white face and your choice of black or chrome bezel. These gauges are very similar tothe factory dash and illuminate to match as well. Our kits are complete with pillar mount and all the items needed to complete the install. We do also have metal plate mounts, but usually use pillar mounts with the color molded in.

I think a small rams head or a Cummins symbol would look good over the center spot on the pyro gauge , in fact , there is a black one of each in this months TDR mag. About the size of a quarter !

anyone have a three gauge door pillar set up? I guess you have to cut the handle off?... the center console is not an option with the elec-shifter and heated seat controls in my truck.

I had been leaning towards the x-moniter because of the mounting issues and i like the alarm/recall features. Any thoughts on the x-mon?

any one have good photos i would love to see them.

Pretty sure that Genos offers a pilar replacement in FACTORY color. The whole piece is replaced vs just a sleeve you have to plasti-rivot on. Anyone care to validate?

For a manual trans truck its hard to beat the the DG211WB It serves as an EGT and Boost gauge in a single 2 1/16" hole. get a factory SRT-10 A pillar and you can keep your grab handle. The WB in the part number stands for white face with black bezel.

It has many user selectable features such as warning lamps that will go off at temps you select.

Yes, the 3 guage Genos sells ONLY comes in the taupe factory color now. IMHO, it is a horrible fit - inside lower edge is way too wide, leaving a lot of the inside exposed. I preferred the dash mount to it by a long shot
