Chevrolet 1500 ???????

OK I know - my neighbor has a friend who got him shingles from the local Manufacture at a whopping price... ... NOW they are in his garage on pallets NOT on his roof  To try and find a roofing conveyor is almost impossible here in Portland - NOW don't laugh but I found this suggestion - does it sound OK? Any other ideas - and no hirinf Illegeals ain't in the mix... ...

Here's what I did: I made a flat wood board with wood edges that fit over the outside rails of an extension ladder. I placed a temporary pulley up on the roof top. I loaded a stack of shingles on the wood board and then as I pulled the rope/pulley, the board with shingles would move up (slide up) the ladder to the top where my helper would unload them ... worked great! Good Luck!

I do them one at a time. (I don't like heights much and have to hold on) If it's a low enough pitch that you can walk it, it's really easy. My last house had a 12/12 pitch so I was climbing planks after climbing the ladder. Of we chose a 50 year metric laminated shingle-- 4 bdls/sq. and I think they were 85lbs each.
