This may be different than "hot shoting" but I deliver Travel Trailers all over the US. There are several different companies, some have the same equipment requirements, some different. It depends on which company you commit to. I'd pick a company, then meet their equipment needs to avoid buying unnecessary stuff... it can add up real quick! Some of the equipment is generic that I needed for my own trailer anyway(mudflaps, hitches, electrical hookups, brake controller, etc. ) so I already had it. I'm "leased on" to a company and am paid as an independent contractor so I'm responsible for income tax withholding, etc. Insurance is another item you'll need. I had to completely change companies as my insurer wouldn't cover me in this line of work. Our trucks sound similar (mines stock so far) and, while I'm concerned about the auto trans, I watch carefully what and how I tow and it has provided realiable service so far (only about 20k mi towing at or near 9k lbs. ) I do have a set of gauges that just arrived to install. Take your time and choose companies wisely, make sure they can provide reloads (backhauls) to minimize deadhead miles. I'm new at this too (3 months) and will answer any questions I can! Good luck!
