HVAC Doors making noise

We are enjoying our new Ram immensely. But- there's one little thing which is strange about this truck. You shut it off, and if you don't get out right away, like to do mileage logs, eventually you hear this "CREEEEK" from the dash, like the climate control system is moving a door. Key's out, truck is off. Then the other morning I came out to mount some accessories, sat looking for a good mounting place, never inserted the key and lo and behold, "CREEEEK". Anybody else hear this?

It is the power off delay for the accessories, like the radio and wipers. You can set it in the EVIC. The power will stay on however long it is set for, or till the door opens.

Actually it is the Autotemp parking itself after shut down. It is in most Chrysler cars with Autotemp controls. It is especially loud on LX (300, Charger) cars and is heard about two minutes after shut down. There are also a bunch of other things going on behind the scenes as well that don't make any noise. The vehicle goes through an orderly shut down every time you shut it off.

My lowly Tradesman exhibits the same characteristics....and I have manual HVAC controls. Sounds like the blend and / or re-circ doors cycling perhaps.

Twins! ( Well, darn near twins, anyway ). I have the Longhorn floor mats. So it's almost there ;-)

yep.. my Laramie does it as well.. Its in the HVAC system somewhere. First thing that went thru my mind is CRAP, NOT BLEND DOOR ISSUES AGAIN!

My 13 does the same thing....I thought I read in my manuel that it was the DEF getting “injected” or pumped into the system....Could be wrong but I thought I read about that noise.

Found it! Was putting the air filter in the intake plenum behind the glove box, started the motor to power a plug in light and low and behold the accordion boot which pulls down to bring air to the plenum came right down with a creak! The guy helping me saw the same thing through the left a/c outlets. Later, motor off for a while, the boot retracted. With a creak. So it's the boots. Don't think I'll try to lube them! ;-)

Mine makes the same noise long after it has been shut off. I haven't sat down and timed it but I would say I have heard it at least 30-60 minutes after I have shut it off.

EDIT: This post was about my 2014, which I no longer have. My 2015 does not make this noise, at least not that I have heard.

My 2014 3500 Laramie Dually does it at random intervals of time. It depends on the last temperature setting and the ambient temperatures. It happens at some of the weirdest times as well. My wife and I just consider the ghost in our truck has intestinal gas and relieves itself whenever it wants. Most of the time there is someone inside or the door has just been opened. It's creepy at night after the engine has been shut off and it gets quiet before we get out. When we are gathering our things, before exiting the truck for instance, it lets out a bronx cheer, as if to say, 'That was a great ride, now I'm ready to relax as well'. I usually blame it on her and ask why she couldn't wait until she got out. (The sound comes from the passenger side under the dash) LOL!

I have a 2013 2500 Laramie that does the same thing. I went to the dealer and their final conclusion was it was normal. Another truck did the same thing. As it was explained to me, it is the accessory power buss shutting off or turning on. I have keyless go and the truck will actually move the doors if I just walk by. The doors have a default position, which apparently is not the same position I use. So each time the truck thinks it might start up, it moves the doors to the position set in the AC controls. Each time it shuts down, it moves the doors to the default position. The shutoff is several minutes after engine off, and startup is whenever the truck senses a driver nearby or the truck is unlocked.

At least this is better than my wife's car. Her Bluetooth hands free is on all the time. The car will answer cell calls that come in on her phone whenever she is in range. If she is walking up to the car in a parking lot, the car steals the call from the handset. If her phone is in the kitchen (adjacent to the garage) the car will answer incoming calls and take over outgoing calls.
