hi all

my girlfriend bought me a 6" suspension lift as a suprise gift.

its a tuffcountry, problem is, the tuffcountry is a 6" upper coil spring spacer, and a 4" cast iron lift block for the back, check it out at http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/360034.html

she got it with the sx8000 nitro gas shocks, problem is, i currently have a 2" level kit on my truck, and the suspension lift is 6 in front, 4 in back, can i install the kit over top the level kit, and buy another 2" cast iron lift block for the back to make it 6/6 ? or do i have to take out the 2" level kit and install the 6/4, which to me is more like a 4" lift, not 6 :(

any input would be great, thanks alot,

Andrew

oh, btw, my truck is a 2005 3500 SW auto, not sure if that info would matter... \

and if anyone knows, whats the largest tire i can put on with that kit, little tire rubbing when wheel cut whole way is fine... EG: 315's on stock truck :)

In the front you'll most likely have geometry problems if you stack the two lifts. Death wobble is a common enough problem that I wouldn't want to deal with the geometry changes by mixing and matching lift kits. In the rear you NEVER EVER want to stack lift blocks - that is a sure case for disaster. You are very likely to spit out one of the lift blocks thus causing your rear suspension to come apart.

I just bought the same kit as you, but purchased 6" Superlift coils to go in the front rather than the spacers. Don't stack the spacers up front or stack blocks in the rear. For the rear I am having custom 6" leaf packs made up by Atlas Spring and eliminating the rear blocks that are there altogether. Stacking blocks back there will result in axle wrap and vibration. Contrary to what many believe, lifts aren't and shouldn't be just something you slap on. You need to engineer it to work properly and safely.

ok, thanks all.

Hey, do any of you all know what size tires i can put under the truck with that lift ? little rubbing when wheel cut whole way is OK, like the 315's do... I want to order new set of tires same time i put lift on...

315's will work with no problem at all. You could run 37's so long as the rim width and offset isnt too much. I'd keep it over 5" of offset and 9" for width if you want the 37's.

hey buddy, use the front spacers and buy the skyjacker d25 springs for like 125 bucks and use the 4 in block in the rear with an add a leaf that should be a preety nice setup. you can find those springs on summitracing.com

6" spacers on top of taller springs  The rear block isn't enough to level it so it will be a taildragger and an AAL will stiffen the hell out of the ride and still not put the rear where it should be. Not to mention the fact that you will experience axle wrap up the wazoo. This is the type of advice you shouldn't listen to. Do the research up front and do it right the first time. Otherwise you will end up hating the end result.
