did you ever install that air dog fuel preporator?

how about the fitch fuel catalyst?

curious what gains you found

what is a fuel preporator anyways?

thanks

Installed Airdog and Fitch fuel catalyst couple weeks ago. Makes about 17psi at idle and I have'nt been able to get it below 15 psi even when I cross the finish line in 4th gear going 100 mph at 3900 rpm. The pump is smaller and quieter compared to a Fass. I also had the injector pump rebuilt at the same time and am working on a possible timing problem. The truck pulls great @ 2500+, but is not as strong below that. I also upgraded my fuel pickup to 1/2" copper tubing and used a 1/2"- 1" copper adapter to use as an "umbrella" (for lack of better term), as a way to reuse the old plastic holder. I took pictures but don't know how to post. :{ Until I get the timing checked I won't be able to give any accurate results.

Whatever electical pump system you use you DON'T want to use it in conjunction with the existing lift pump. I attempted to do so and my piston lift pump which made 17 psi at idle (and 0 at WOT) with my 17 psi Airdog, affectively tried to double my fuel pressure. Thank goodnes I had a fuel pressure gauge at the banjo coming out of the stock filter and I shut the truck off immediately before my front pump seal popped out. So I ordered a 12mm x -6an fitting from Airdog for $4 (it is standard in the 24 valve kits) and plumbed my 1/2 line to the stock filter inlet. Yes, currently I have 3 fuel filters. :-laf

On edit; I used a 12mm x -8an fitting.

is -6 3/8ths or 1/2?

thought it was 3/8

anyhow, i wonder what your fuel temp is now?

i mean, the return line is dumping warm fuel into your tank. you are running that thru a heater below the truck, then thru the factory filter (which is really warm... to say the least), then thru the stock line out of the filter (motor side of pump) to the ve

ps - i wonder if the fuel temp is different when you are running a full tank compared to once it has been on the road for a while and is down to 1/4?

(the temp of the fuel entering the motor)

Oops! Yes I did use #8 not #6 flares. Number 8 is 1/2".

Neither one of the of the fuel heaters are hooked up.

i checked the temp of my fuel today. well, not exactly the fuel itself, but i took my track temp thing (the thing i use at the drag strip to see how hot the track is, ex pips, etc. i dont know what you call it, you point it and pull the trigger and it tells you how hot stuff is). anyway, i pointed it at the ve (with the water at 180*) the ve is around 120. the cap that is on the -4 90 going into the ve was only 105. that cap is pretty thin so i am guessing the fuel cant be a whole lot cooler than that. then again, that was with a full tank (65 gal) and i hadnt been driving for 8 hrs. when i leave next week i will have to remember to check it again after driving 400 miles

ps - i prolly shoulda ran 1/2" as well. i dont have the hp you do but i do want to upgrade. atleast -8 from tank to pump. after i upgrade how warm is this motor gonna run tho, towing?
