Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Compassionate WV Deer

:D Figured I would start a new thread since I started the 45 auto thread I decided to go this route, after starting that thread over 2 years ago I just came home with a very slightly used 10mm Glock 20 with fixed sites for $450 came as a complete kit, box, spare clip, cleaning rod, finger saver for loading the clips and all the factory paperwork/manuals.

I decided on the 10mm not long after starting the 45 auto thread but was just waiting for the right deal. I had to completely disassemble it to find a trace of it having been shot. I doubt it even had a full box of ammo run through it. There have been lots of used ones at 500 bucks that were definately shot a lot but I was holding out for a nicer one for cheaper than 500 since new ones are 550-600 here locally.

Now to find some good ammo to practice with and build up my brass supply so I can reload my own.

Any one know of a good ammo supplier and a site with accuracy and performance results of different ammo testing for it?

The new 10mm will be a hunting gun... . Deer and coyotes. So the loads I am interested in will be geared towards this. fmj and solid lead are not an option I am looking at copper jacket hollow points with lead tips.

I copied this from the 45 auto thread so it get better exposure.

Anyone have an opinion on Double Tap ammo? From searching they seem to have the best pricing and from some sites I have read the tests in glock 20 was good.

I've never had a problem with Double Tap ammo so far.

OH, wow!! How much better can it get!! Guns and Cummins!!

Double tap ammo is pretty good. Terminal performance deteriorated a little, but it will still shoot and kill. As far as the most accurate ammo, you're going to have to figure that out on your own. Every pistol is different, as are rifles. Consecutive serial numbers may like completely different ammo!! Hornady makes a great quality round, and their XTP bullets are phenomenol on hogs and cows. I reload most of mine, so I use their bullets quite a bit. Magtech make s a good quality, cheaper rounds, and may not have the terminal qualities you're searching for, but tends to be very accurate. I'm not sure who all still makes the 10mm, as I don't have one anymore, but Winchester ammo was pretty reasonable, although it tended to powder foul a little more than others. My Glock was pretty forgiving, and would shoot just about anything except CCI Blazer ammo. I wish I hadn't sold it now, but I popped off on the price($700), and the guy handed me cash... ... . I'm glad it was a price I could live with! I think he shot competition with it for a year or so. Anyway, as far as pricing, I'd try Pistol Ammunition - 10mm at Sportsman's Guide ,

CJ's Ammo (starting out company, honest, hardworking guy and his wife. If you're looking for quantity, this is the guy to talk to, Chris Cochrane)

WOW... ..... I never checked on ammo for this thing, it is extremely scarse and hard to find. Every place I checked laughed and said they have had it on order for months and have long waiting lists for people wanting it.

I only found 1 place that had any here locally which I cleaned out and even online things are back ordered until april.

Yep, you may want to looking to reloading. You'll still have to find the brass and bullets, but going forward it'll be *much* cheaper for you.

I have had 75 rounds of Hornady critical defense . 380 on order from Cabelas since May 21, 2009. I have left it on order just to be a pain in the arse. I call once a month and raise hell(not to serierously). Lowers my blood pressure.

Been using some Double Tap in my . 40. seems to go well, Midway has it in stock from time to time, you have to watch for it.

yes , 10 mm ammo is a rare commodity, local stores here never have much on hand and a very limited selection. I love the gun , and when I bought it , ammo was no probelm, now is a different story, but I doubt if I give it up, love the way it shoots and is very accurate.

I do reload my own but with pistols I like to buy factory to experiment with and then reload the brass as I build up a supply. Every place has reloading supplies but no factory ammo. I need to get the dies and do some reading in ballistics tables to see what I want to start with.

Love my model 20 ...

shot 1911's for decades ...

bought used but never fired, NIB model 20 with factory night sights last summer for $400 ...

sold the Kimber and never looked back ...

16 rounds of Double Tap goodness ...

Approx . 41 mag ballistics ...

I've got big hands and it fits me like a glove ...

I use it to protect myself and my family so i don't care how much the ammo costs ...

get the 135 grainers and kill some watermellons ...

we had a bunch of pumpkins that rotted before they ripened last fall and my 10 year old said "can i shoot them with my sisters model 26?"

and the fun was on ...

nothing like a 10 year old and his 16 year old sister having target practice with rotten pumpkins ...

then daddy got out his "big ten"

fun ... fun
