Glow plugs

Had a guy try to tell me , the newer Cummins have glow plugs??? I told him, NO. Am I correct? Haven't kept up with the later CTD. TIA jps

I believe they have grid heaters as well. The Cummins is a real diesel after all.

no glow plugs... . the Duramax has glowplugs AND an intake grid heater.

the day a Cummins has Glow plugs will be the same day u see dinosaurs roaming again LOL and i don't see that ever happening, probably a ill informed person who likes to think they know what they are saying. .
Never figured out why Ford uses them either, those things are a weak point in the engine. .

Yep. . they are a weak point in ANY diesel engine... they burn/short out on a regular basis, and I have personally witnessed what happens when one breaks off and falls into the cylinder of a d-max at 3k RPM @75 mph. It totally train wrecked the entire right bank and the turbocharger.

What would glow plugs cost to replace anyway?

My brother-in-law has a 03 Ferd and his went out... now it won't even start when it's slightly chilly outside.

7. 3 glow plugs are like 10 bucks each,they seem like a crappy design with all the under valve cover harnesses and all that.

That's a significant difference between what he was quoted... $3000.

Rock auto has the motorcraft glow plugs for 10. 99 each and you can pick the relay up for like 30 . takes about 3 hrs to change glow plugs ,1/2 hr for relay be a a good time to check wire harness under valve cover too
