Bio diesel

What are people doing with their glycerin? The organization that I'm working with has a lot of it, and we're hoping to come up with some creative solutions about what to do with it. I heard it has uses in agriculture. We make some of it into soap, but we don't have the time or resources to market that volume of soap. I appreciate any thoughts.

Heat it enough to ensure that all the methanol is out of it and throw it away. Don't disposeofit before getting boiling off the meth. It's really bad for ground water.

Ethanol on the other hand... . you can put that in my water anytime.

So, I haven't read the article yet, but "hear" some people are mixing gasoline in to counter glycerin (something like that) and burning the whole works. .

Doesn't sound good on first impression, but is this something that may catch on?

Any info/comments on this?

Thanks for the info. Will check it out. .
Here is the site I was told about:

Bio-Diesel: Farm Grown Profit

Basically this guy adds gasoline to keep the viscosity about the same as diesel. He claims increased performance.

Diesel engines will run on lots of different stuff.

motor oil

used motor oil

trans fluid

hydraulic fluid

biodiesel

vegetable oil

blends of oil/gasoline

and hundreds of other things.

Is it good for them? Probably not. Just because some clown thinks it up, and the engine runs on it, doesn't mean that you should try it. If you do, please don't be mad when something goes wrong.

Is anybody interested in improving the combustion and power of there engine with a good and proven diesel fuel additive.

help, who me?

Really he has helped me more than I have helped him. Not only on this but other things.

Dan is very cutting edge when it comes to blending his vegetable oil to make fuel. Remember he uses New Crude Vegetable Oil this is so far away from Waste Vegetable Oil. This is why his numbers are better then mine.

TYPES OF VEGETABLE OIL and I would think there are more.

Crude (nothing added nothing taken away)

Degumed (is a mild acid wash)

Industral Grade (winterized , filtered ,refined )this is what you make biodiesel out of.

food grade ( cooking oil lots of additives here) anti foam, cirtic acid. ect ect

then you have waste vegetable oil from cooking oil

Refined oil is about . 70 cents per pound

food grade is running . 86 to 1. 25 per pound and higher depends on the feed stock. I priced this a few months ago, SURE THE PICE HAS CHANGED:{

glycerin disposal

I have yet to make a single gallon of biofuel, but that's only due priorities ahead of it. I always keep my eye's and ears open. This is my opinion, for what it's worth.

Is dumping and causing potential pollution a way home fuel brewers want to be perceived? If you were mega XYZ corporation and were polluting, people would be angry for that. So don't attract attention to yourself or this movement in a negative way. I have heard that glycerin may be able to be digested by some municiple sewer plants, w/o the added need to remove small amounts of residual methanol. Unfortunately I can't remember where I ran across that piece of information.
