An Impressive Ford!!!

I was over at The Diesel Page and saw an article saying that GM is reintroducing a crew cab SRW 3500 series truck. I don't have a membership there anymore so I can't read the whole article but apparently GM is keeping up with Dodge and Phurd. Glad to see it. I hope they have the issues ironed out with the injection system problems I experienced with my Dmax.

what kind of problems did you have?? my dad just sold his 01' d-max because the injectors poured fuel into the crank case  not once but twice. he should have kept the cummins ... . no wait if he did that i wouldn't own one:D oh well

Same exact thing happened to me. At the mileage stated I had my entire fuel system replaced. I had a mixture of diesel fuel and oil covering my entire truck and the dealer had it two weeks replacing stuff. First they pulled the heads and replaced all 8 injectors and fuel lines, one of which had rusted off where it hooked to one of the injectors. When that didn't fix the problem they replaced the HP fuel pump (injection pump) and that cured the problem. Don't know how long the fix lasted because I sold it soon thereafter.

It was a good truck and IF they have the problems fixed then I would consider owning another one, but I'd rather have a new HP before I'd take a Chebby.

ya they had my dads truck for 3 weeks the first time and then another 2 it happened at 85k miles. otherwise he liked the truck. i tried talking him into a new H. O. but instead he bought a suburban with the 5. 3l what an under powered truck!! he still likes to drive mine though!!

I bet he does. My former room mate who has a 2002 had the same fuel system problems, only his happened at 26k miles. I was concerned becasue they said that diesel had been spewing under the heads and they didn't know for how long. I was working the crap out of that truck and I was afraid that it had been going on for a while and had caused major engine wear that I didn't know about, so I dumped it. I liked the truck too and that was the only reason I sold it. I'd own another one if they have the fuel system fixed right. Unfortunately my friend said that he talked to a guy that works at a GM dealership service department adn the problems are still there.

thats unfortunate about the fuel problems. he also had the rear leaf springs crack on him twice and he didn't even tow that much weight ..... like maybe 6500 lbs tops.
