RV Tire care in winter

Been sorta looking at diesel motorhomes - specially a Cummins powered one - but found a great looking '94 31 footer that has a GM 6. 5. I don't know anything about those engines, and am particularly interested in durability and reliability - it is intercooled and (of course) turbo powered.

Could this be a good setup, or something to steer clear of?

I have driven some of the pickups with that same motor and thought them rather gutless. I wouldn't want to drive something that heavy with that underpowered of a motor. Just my $. 02.

Are you sure it's intercooled? Dad's '95 2500 6. 5L wasn't.

Longevity is pretty good. Mainly because there isn't enough power available to hurt anything.

Sounds like the same engine in the uparmored M1114 HMMWV. Will do the job, but for how long, and how well are the big questions.

If this engine has aluminum heads on it I'd stay away from it... . There are now companies making cast iron heads for those motors because of the problems with them... ...

Just my thoughts...

A very good friend of mine has worked on that motor 6. 5 alot and his words were to me they are Strickly Junk stay away from them . They are gutless and under powered Pile's of scrap iron . He works for Cal trans so and also worked for gov with the humvee's so he knows his stuff. JMO I would buy a cummins and pay a little more just knowning it has a good motor in it .

Do they have complete service records?? As stated, they are not intercooled, but they are a good engine if the mtc schedule is followed. I have a 99 Suburban with the 6. 5 and I think its a good engine. If complete mtc records are available and the price is right, I wouldn't be afraid to buy it.
