GM increases warranty to five years/100,000 miles. I guess GM doesn't know this will not increase sales, aint that what Chrysler said as the reason they discontinued their 7 year warranty.

Ford upped their warranty to 5/60 (6/60 for Lincoln) in July and we didn't hear anything. Hyundai and Kia both offer up to 10/100. So why all of a sudden is this big news? MARKETING. The marketing is amazingly effective - people everywhere are talking about it and how wonderful GM is for doing this. They've even put Mark LaNeve (GM VP North America) on a political talk show and had the host talk about how wonderful GM is and how great their cars are.

Propaganda.

Ryan, Yes its all Propaganda. Just like when Chrysler said it was discontinuing their 7 year warranty they did it for their bottom line

It is just the same as rebating. They have an actuary(sp) figure the average warranty cost they will have in the time frame, and just use this for a form of a rebate.

GM's stock has been rising for the past six months. Somethings working for them.

I don't know how well the Duromax holds up but the rest of the truck is pretty nice. GM does give you all the goodies with their rigs.

I'll just keep the Dodge though.

When Kerkorian bought 10% of GM I remarked to a friend that I thought GM was an excellent investment. He looked at me like I had lobsters coming out of my ears.

If I started taking my own investment advice, I'd be stinking rich.

Now I think Ford is a great investment. Hyundai too. But I'll continue to ignore my own advice.

When I bought my Dodge in '02, Cummins stock was in the low $20's. If i had bought a few hundred shares I could have paid the truck off. But... ... ...

Yes they give you all the goodies but you pay for them. Try to price an SLT, then price the Chev. You'll see a diff. of about $10,000.

I bought my 06 dodge for 34,000, the duramaxes with a little more comfy are priced at 36,000 around here. The reason I didn't go with a duramax is the chevy dealer would only give me 26,000 for my 05 dodge and the dodge dealer gave me 31,500 for my 05. To me dollars mean alot.
