I know we've talked about the gearing differences on the GM NV4500 and our NV4500's but I was wondering if the top and the shifter would interchange and if it would be of any benefit? Anything like the later model Dodge NV's. Mine is a '94 NV4500 which has the long shifter throw and it also seems a little extra sloppy. Will it bolt up? Would it work if it would? Would it be of any benefit like the top and shifter off the late models?

The 1995 up GM NV4500 used the same top cover as the 1998 up dodge. I have one offa 1995 GM in my 1996. However the shift tower meaning the top part with the 4 bolts that hold it on is different. The threads are larger and the bend is different. I just used a shift lever from a gm and it worked pretty good cause the bottom of it is fat and the factory dodge shift boot fits it snug. If you go this route with a 4wd you will need to modify the transfer case shifter though in 4 wheel low shiftinting between 1st and 2nd the levers hit. I am very happy using the GM shifter set up as it puts the lever in a better position so your not reaching so far and of course it shortens the throw.
