Thank you EPA - No more CRD Liberty

Left turns, no steering needed!

I know it's a big weekend for everybody;but I just wanted to remind everyone that the Audi R10 TDI will be showing the the rest of the world what ]DIESEL POWER :D can do. As they have already won the 12hrs. of sebring. Sat. /Sun. they take on the 24hrs. of lemans. They have qualified 1 (3:30. 466)and 2 (3:30. 584) 2sec. clear of the Pescarolos cars which are 3 and 4. It will be starting on speed tv Sat. morning at 7:30am EST and be all done and said at 9:30am EST.

Everybody who can should tune in! Record it if you can. That is one impressive car! I watched the 12 of Sebring. If they win it will be big news (and a BIG push) for diesels. That V-12 sounds real fine too!

This is a quote I found from one of the drivers

Does the low noise of the Audi R10 TDI affect the driving style at Le Mans?

Driver Frank Biela: "The Audi R10 TDI is very, very quiet. For me it means that under braking from top speed – for instance on the Hunaudières straight – you've got to be even more concentrated than before. Until now, you could change down the gears according to the noise of the engine, but now something is missing. Now I've got to change down according to my feeling or I've got to focus on the rev counter on the steering wheel display. Only at speeds below 200 kph the engine is louder than the wind, so you can drive according to the noise as in the past. The positive aspect: over the distance, the low noise is very pleasant, so it is more relaxing for the driver. "

You'll hear it mostly on the in-car camera shots but it can be heard as it passes by too. Mostly you just hear the turbos! It rocks!

Audi R10's are 1 & 3. The #7 car has "recovered" from problems during the night and has now claimed 3rd. The lead car has led from the start I think. This is gettin' good!

Well, in a fantastic, (not so stunning to us dieselheads) finish... Audi's revolutionary turbodiesel powered R10 has taken first place and third place at LeMans. The first place car led every single lap of the race, averaged higher top speeds than any of the gassers and also led in fuel economy by 2-3 laps (16-20 miles) per fuel tank.

Congrats to the audi diesel team, on their hard earned achievement. The 5. 5l twin turbo powerplant that pushes out over 600HP and 1100Nm (800ftlbs) of torque and averages about 6MPG by my hand calculations in race conditions has performed admirably... hopefully the technology will trickle down and we'll all have 600HP/850ftlb engines in a little while ;)

GO GO GADGET DIESEL!

Saw the finish, looks like diesel will be the future. Hopefully EPA wont turn it on its head when all vehicles run it. Congrats for Audi.

the second car had blown a turbo with approx 9 hrs to go and it was replaced in 20 min. Also the second one would have been a second place finish but it kept sucking dirt and gravel into the intake and that put them down several laps. However when it was running it was smoking the second place car's lap time

Oh yeah, smart planning by running the lead car at 9/10ths while running hard from behind to try for a 1-2 finish. Personally I think Audi may be sandbaggin' a little!! I think that some of the gasser boys are a little ticked too. Some of the comments went like "don't think they've got the reliability to stay at the front" , etc. , blah-blah. Wonder what they're saying now? :-laf
