I have been somewhat perplexed by the omission of the "First unread Post" link on some of the threads.



I haven't proven it yet, but it seems that it only works if I have made a post on that thread?



Can you enlighten us as to what determines if that link appears?



I enjoy monitoring a lot of the threads and would appreciate if the link was always there.

How it works is this, there is a date/time stamp field in the user database. Whenever you come to the site this field is checked. The last unread post goes to the first post after that date/time (the "view new posts" feature uses the same date). That date/time stamp is reset any time that you have gone away from the site for 15 minutes or if you click on "mark all forums read". If there is no activity for 15 minutes then it assumes that this is a different visit. There is no way for the system to keep track of which posts each user has read - it would be WAY too much load for the server with 855,102 posts x 20,788 users = 17,775,860,376 records.
