How has everyone been? auto transmission questions

Injector Questions??

In interested in one of Daves convertors and upon talking to him Ive found that he has a single and triple disc. Single disc needs high pressure and the triple needs more $. ANy of you guys who have gone with one of his converters can you give me some advice on which way you went and an approx $ figure

Ive already posted this once but went in the wrong forum

I am going to be making a purchase on the Triple this coming Friday from Dave. Can't wait!!!!(especially since my converter started chattering yesterday :( )

I have one of Daves tripple disk setups in my truck right now. It has only been in since May of 2002,but I am thrilled with it!!!FAR superior compared to the stock unit. Daves prices and service are second to none. Just today I pulled my dump trailer w/9000# of firewood inside it,and the truck performed flawlessly. My total investment at Daves shop was approximately 1700 for the tripple disk, stock valvebody modifications, rear seal replacement,ATF,band strengthening, replacement of all my metal cooler lines and installation. All in all,I think he is very reasonably priced. Currently my truck dynoed at 280/715(future mods are on the bench)and I think the transmission will handle it no problem at all.

I've been running One of daves tripples for about 32000 miles with a little over 400 hp. Still shifts the same and the converter does not slip. Daves method of milling the stator works and does not sacrifice torque multiplication. If you plan on running over 350hp or you are going to tow alot with more hp than stock i would use the 3 disk. If you plan to stay under 350 or don't tow then i would just go with the single.

Any other questions just let me know

MILLED STATOR

I had a TC with a milled stator in my 97 and man did it make heat out of lockup, I saw my TC out temp go up to 320 when going slow in the bush. Made me buy a 6 speed.

I got a singe (before triples ever came around). I tow ~12K about 20K miles a year. Our transmission temps are always fine, have no slippage problems with our 230/605 plate.

And he totally stands behind it. I had a transmission problem a few years ago that even Chrysler agreed was the fault of the transmission, and he worked with me to get the new TC swapped in.

Blair,

I see your e-mail -- email address removed --. Was it a BD convertor you had in 97? Milling is just a process. Just because a company "mills" their stators does not necessarily mean it is inferior. The term milling got a bad name years ago because companies that did not know what they were doing were milling "lopping off" large portions of the stator blades to lower the stall speed. This also killed the torque multiplication. Stators can also be reshaped by someone who knows what they are doing by milling and still get a lower stall without sacrificing torque. Dave Goerend knows what he is doing.

I've got one of Dave's 3-D TC's. I watched him spend 3 hours at his bench building it. The selling point was low stall speed, HIGHER tourque multiplication, and of course no slippage locked up. It does all those things, and I've never seen temps over 150 or so. Had it in for about 20k now & still love it. The truck does the same tricks at 1900 RPM, as it used to do at 2500 or so.
