Golf Cart questions

My parents have bought a place at a fish camp in Florida to spend the winters crappie fishing. They want a golf cart to motivate around the camp. I figured some of you may have some advice from your experiences. The first question is electric or gas? They think they want electric but a friend that buys and sales them said they’ll be better off with gas. It may sit unused up to six months at a time. He definitely doesn’t want to be working on it all the time.

golf carts are almost impossible to come by now, and expect to pay big bucks for old POS's. Used EzGo's sold for $2000ish a year ago, and would probably cost you $3500+. For whatever reason, golf carts are the new 5.9 Cummins w/ manual transmission.

I have two golf carts. A 2013 electric 48V Club Car in Arizona, all flat ground within the RV resort in Arizona. In the NW I have a 1999 Yamaha gas cart that has never been on a golf course. That park has 22 miles of hilly roads within the 360 acers with 1486 sites. Gas ones work better in a hilly environment. Gas cart are hard to find and are banned in some areas as noted above.

Sadly my DW for 40 years standing by the Red Yamaha pasted away on 7/5/2021 from ALS AKA Lou Gehrig disease.

The Buick Rainier was totaled last summer, the RAM and Laredo trailer were both sold in Arizona this winter. I will move the Big Horn 5th wheel across the road to the larger lot above either this summer or next summer and sell the smaller lot. Porch roof I built last summer is going to create an issue moving the 5th wheel.

I've seen HUNDREDS of them on the lot for sale along the Texas gulf coast just a month ago.
But no clue about the price though.

Seems to be a local problem. Same with RV, everyone tells me they are out of stock everywhere but almost everyday I drive by another dealer that has the lot full.

Oh my God, I feel so sorry for your loss. I just learned about ALS one month ago when another dear forum member was diagnosed with it. That stuff is so horrible, worse then cancer.
Prayer for you in that hard times.

She was diagnosed in Dec 2020 as having bulbar ALS which is upper body onset, which has the shortest life expectance. She was still going to exercise classes in the swimming pool 4 days a week in April.

Heart felt prayers, SnoKing. :( My son's fraternity did an event for ALS. Not well known as the others but just as much sadness for any family that has to deal with. Carry on with your memories of your time together!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about DW. My sincerest condolences for your loss. I’m sure I’d be lost without my wife after only 25 years together.
