4BT auto? transfer-case?

Has Earthroamer gone nuts???

Just bought my wife a '00 jeep TJ Wrangler for 10K (she's gotta have toys, too-----right?), part of the deal was a '95 Wrangler YJ for $2200. It has a 2. 5, 5 speed. Gonna do a 4BT in it, would like to go Auto for the transmission, haven't decided on the transfer case yet. Gimme some ideas, guys.

Jeez, it isn't even in the driveway yet, and I've already gutted it in my head:D

Guess I oughta elaborate----- I do not intend to drive it on the street, I got the rockcrawler thing boiling my blood at the moment. I know the 4BT will have plenty of torque for crawlin', but will it have the ooomph when ya gotta nail it?

Hutchew,

Power? When you get your 4BT, tear it down, run marine pistons with the teflon coated skirts, then have the domes ceramic coated. Next, add the marine 250Hp fuel system, then see if you have trouble moving..... watch the Pyro though

There was a Jeep at TiM that had a rotary pump 4BT in it..... it smoked pretty good, sounded awesome, and took off like a son of a gun.

The p-pump 4BT's are SWEET... . but VERY hard to come by.

It'll have plenty of power... . just crank her up a little.

well, me building it TH400 to 205, dana 60's detroited and at least 38" rubber. Crawler and no street means no need for OD.

Give me more info! you going to change axles? rubber size? do you need 4:1 crawler setup? etc... ?

Jlast

I have built a mild 92 yj on 38" sold it, am building a fj40 currently, and working on every night for the last month a rock buggy with 2. 5 ton rockwell axles, and 53" michelin xl tires, air bag suspension.

a 205, the stock one definitley will not hld the power, unless you baby it all the time.

You don't think a NP 205 will live with the out put of a 4bt?? The np205 is a lot stronger transfer case that the out put of a 4bt they are allmost bullet proof at that power level!

I think he was suggesting that he use a 205 because the 231J would explode under the stress...

I personally would use a 241D over the 205 because of the lower low range ratio and lighter weight. The 205 is only 1. 98:1 where the 241D is 2. 72:1
