Long story short. I'm happy to be back to the Cummins world. I was a member from 2000 to 2015 when I had an 2001 Flame Red 2500 with the NV5600 (sold it with 268,000 miles on it). Bad knees and an old clutch that I didn't want to mess with pushed me into a Ram 1500 with the EcoDiesel in 2015. I loved the the EcoDiesel for over the road driving, not towing. It got great mileage and the air ride suspension was super smooth! After an engine replacement (under warranty), air suspension delete (dead pump), and then it started popping DPF related codes, I decided that 148,000 miles was a good time to retire the EcoDiesel.
After a bit of a wait for Stellantis to release a color other that white, grey or black, I just placed an order for 2025 Ram 2500 Laramie with the Cummins and ZF transmission. I understand the risks of the new engine/trans, but I couldn't wait for a shakedown period before getting a truck (someone has to be the guinea pig).
Now for the wait.....
I have the VIN and the RAM status website already has progressed to "Scheduled" so hopefully I'll have this truck before the end of the summer.
