Unless you have a oxy/ace torch to heat the ends of the cat & muffler red before wiggling it off, don't plan on it being a quick job at all unless you break out the sawzall and cut out the whole mess. I guarantee that after unbolting the clamps that it won't just slip apart.

When you get the clamps off, have an assistant start pulling & twisting on the tail pipe. At the same time, take a hammer, and start tapping around the crimped area which was distorted by the clamp. With some light tapping, and some pulling & twisting, it will come apart without heating, IF YOU'RE LUCKY! I've had mine off several times, & this has always worked for me. My clamps hadn't really distorted the pipes, & that helped.

Just returned from the shop. It sounds like a John Deere 4020 on steroids. Should have done this a long time ago. Thanks for the helpful removal tips.

AHHHH to breathe that clean Rocky Mountain Air.

I removed a muffler once in a 4x4 droF once by the Jeff Foxworthy method. "Hey ya'll, hold my beer. Watch This. " Chained it to a tree, and took off in 4 wheel low. Worked. It was ugly. But it worked.

I'm more refined now and use a sawzall for such tasks...
