Alright, I'm in the market for a 12 valver.

I found a 95' std. cab long bed 2500 4x4 auto. 75,000 on the clock.

The owner says the transmission "pops" out of OD when you get on it, and not the way its supposed to. (Not a really big deal b/c I plan on putting a Sun Coast in it anyways.

Otherwise, it got new paint last year with some fresh scratches and the normal little dents and dings in the bed you get when you use a truck.

I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know any specifics.

He wants $10,000 for it. KBB says $8500 in excellent condition with all the bells and whistles that it may or may not have.

Good idea or no?

Thanks in advance,

I bought my truck (same as the one you are considering) in Oct 2003 with nearly 78k, badly oxidized paint (4yrs in CA), cracked windshield and a cap for $9500. At the time, that was $1500-$3000 below KBB.

The transmission did the same thing you are describing because of a bad TPS. I don't know if the TPS caused the trans to fail 300 miles after I bought it or not. Previous owner said it had been shifting in and out of OD for some time. The pressure line to the cooler failed at the fitting and dumped a lot of fluid causing the trans to overheat.

If it is in good condition with the options and interior you want, $8500+/- is a reasonable price. It is at an age that you need to check several things and replace or repair to prevent very costly damage. The trans cooler line is a big one unless you plan to upgrade to an aftermarket unit immediately.

Good luck and let me know if I can answer any other questions.
