This amazes me, you ever noticed when your looking at new vehicles, and say a buddy just bought a new one and said "hey you need to go here to this dealership" they will cut you a great deal. You go there, and are looking at basically the same truck, and they quote you a lot higher price than what your buddy got his for. You say well you sold "Joe Blow" this same truck for this amount, they look at you an say well your friend is pulling your leg there's no way we could sell you that vehicle for that price. I say ok thanks. I seen the sales invoice figures, and canceled check. If you feel you got a good deal than you did. My own opinion on this $100. 00 over our invoice or were selling you this truck under invoice is BS. They could not stay in business if this was true. I will admit there are some salesmen that will help you out as much as they can, but there are some that will stick it in, and break it off. JMHO!:D

36,313

The truck I am picking up friday is almost exactly yours without the hood thing, rear defrost and clearance lamps and the price is $36,313 less the $500 holiday bonus cash it comes down to $35,813. Basically it is invoice minus $800 minus rebates.

"tobaccogrower"?!

Off topic: Hey James!!! Where have you been?!

On topic: I too find it amazing that some dealers can afford to sell vehicles for less than invoice. I know there is some more hidden 'money' in these deals..... I can't remember what it's called... . it's bread that the dealer and the factory have hanging over their heads and the consumer ends up eating.

Matt - still drooling over the 3rd Gens!!

I am happy to say that I am now "dropshipping" to local areas when available... (tman was the first and all looks smooth from here)

Tman:

thanks again - you make the 11th "600" on order !!!!

I will call and let you know when it hits sub-firm "c" status

I said: "... bread that the dealer and the factory have hanging over their heads and the consumer ends up eating. "

I found the answer... . it's called 'holdback'. It's bread (~4% of true-blue dealer invoice... ) that the dealer makes on every new car sale.

It was in one of the many posts that "tomeygun" contributed to. Good info, man... . thanks!

The offer made to me on that truck a week ago - was written on paper below the MSRP. It sure looked good in comparison. Now I know better and will shop around.

Matt

I "officially" ordered my new truck on Nov. 10th.

3500 SLT quad cab 4X4, HO, 48RE, Lt. Almond, Prem Cloth Seat, Taupe Interior, Engine Block Heater (cord haha), Fold Flat Rear Seat, Power Trailer Tow Mirrors, Front Hood Shield, Trailer Tow Group, Al. Wheels, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Rear Sliding Window, Fog Lamps, Anti Spin 3. 73.

MSRP just over $40,000. My Price $32,453 after all rebates.

My Ship date is supposed to be Jan. 4. My concern is that my dealer cannot tell me which HO I am getting. That has me very concerned. Is there no way to know? Would liked to have known about tomeygun earlier.

I am not trying to drum up business, but I feel obligated to let my fellow TDR members know that I wasn't able to match or even come close to "tommeygun's" prices with any dealer.

If you want to save several thousand dollars pick up the phone and give him a call, you WON'T be disappointed... .

Just passing on good info. that was passed on to me.

Pay it forward... ... ...

Good luck,

Tman

The only way I know of to beat Tommy's price would be to buy on a genuine employee price deal. I bought mine for 4. 7% under invoice less $3000 in rebates. There are different regional type rebates that pop up now and then, Farmer's rebates, etc that will move the end price up and down depending on where you live. None of those available where I live.

My truck had an MSRP of $38,205, invoice was $34,313. I paid

$32701. Take off the $3000 in rebates & it comes out to $29701.

Not a bad deal.

that statement is 100% correct... And when that is available (EC) again... I will pass as many as I have on to fellow TDR members

As of now the "ec" program is off, but it was so successful that i think it will come back
