NuWa (HitchHiker) trailer safety recall information
I just received a safety recall on my 1998 HitchHiker 5th wheel. It affects 1998 thru 2001 models and is a kit to change the angle of the tailights to meet the DOT legal requirements. The notice said to make an appointment to take the trailer to a dealer for the 45 minute modification. Feeling the way I do about dealers of all kinds I sent an email to NuWa asking if they could just send me the kit and I would install it myself. In less than an hour they responded with an email saying that they would ship me the kit and I should send in my card after I completed the work. Can you see Dodge doing this? I was pleased by their response and thought that if any of the TDR members received the same recall they might also opt to do it themselves and should be aware that NuWa will send out a kit to the owner.
