RV AC Help Needed

No more full timing in North, North Dakota

I did a search here for posts for roadside assistance with Good Sam or AAA, the results for my search were several years old. I'm hoping for updated feedback. My AAA has run out and I'm in So. California but want to travel more with the Ram, 5th Wheel and utility trailer (I pull doubles) and want to make sure that I'll be covered with no hassles should the need arise. I'm not too concerned about roadside coverage for my cars, just for the Ram and towables as my cars all have some sort of factory coverage. A co-worker of mine hates AAA and swears by Good Sam, what say you all?
Thanks
Craig

Did your AAA cover your trailers? When I check AAA, they would take care of my TV BUT NOT the trailer-THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. So what good was AAA? for the rest of the fleet? I had Allstate RV road service, 12 yrs. left me high and dry when I called them. Now Good Sam. Advise to get the best plan available. I liked Allstate they covered ME in what ever vehicle I was in. But there was the problem.

I have rv and motorcycle coverage with 200 mile towing with aaa. Always been good for me. I am sure the other ones work too just read all the fine print

Two years ago we had AAA RV+ when in Walker Ca. our black water tank fell out of our toy hauler just after setting up. All I wanted was for them to find a mobile RV repair to come fix it, not to pay for it just find it and send. They told me all they could do was send a tow. Obviously we were in no condition to tow anywhere. After 15 minutes I gave up and called Good Sam even though I just had basic membership, no roadside. In 20 minutes a mobile service was on the way from Carson City. Hurray for GS and a one fingered solute for AAA RV+.

A couple years ago I was towing across southern MN and ran out of fuel. Called AAA, gave them mile marker on I-90 and waited. After over an hour I flagged down a farmer who brought me 5 gallons of ruby red and drove to the next truck stop to fill up. AAA got an earful after that one. I'd vote for good sam.

ALLSTATE covers anything and everything we drive, towing, roadside assist, trailers of any kind, they even find a place to house animals if need be while truck or trailer is being towed to a repair shop.

Also check for trip interruption benefits. Not only with road service pkgs but also credit card companies

I looked at Good Sam, AAA, and Coach Net, we have been using Coach Net now for 3 years. Prior to that we had used Good Sam but dropped them over a billing issue.

I use State Farm for my needs house, truck, car and 5er. Had a major tire failure on the 5er in NB on RT 80 at a very earlier hour on a Sunday morning called State Farm and had roadside assistance with in the ½ hour after I called. State trooper could not believe they respond so fast on a Sunday morning. I have never had an issue with State Farm coverage.

have AAA and they have saved me more times then I care to say but they have Never let me down . but I also have not had to have a trailer towed or anything other then just the truck , or Car.

I've had both Good Sam and Coach Net. I've used Good Sam ERS several times and no hassle from them about a trailer nor taking the truck/5th wheel combination to a different location than the "nearest qualified service center" and they sent real tow trucks not a dinky little 1-ton car towing truck. The one time I called Coach Net when I had their service, they refused to pay for towing an enclosed utility trailer that I was towing at the time. I cancelled the tow call (long story) and didn't renew their service.

Looks like a lot of ups and downs with all the providers. If you want a service you just have to bit the bullet and hope for the best.
My problem with when I needed them, was my contact was in the Philippines. Recently I talked with a person in India about renewal. Hows that for there renewals and dispatch service.

There are numerous threads on this subject on Airforums.
The general consensus seems to be thast triple A RV coverage varies with the area and is excellent to terrible depending on where you are.
Good Sam and Coachnet seem to get really good marks overall.

I dropped my AAA after 35 years because I didn't need many of their services and went with Good Sam because they covered all my vehicles
I have never used it but had a motorhome next to me with a bad alternator and saw GS respond promptly and the owner has been happy in the past.

Last September near Elkins WV there was a large motorhome buried to the axles in the area we camp in. GS sent a semi size wrecker to extract it after the owner had spent 2 days with farm tractor etc with no success.. He did have to pick up part of the bill as it required a 2 man crew on the wrecker but they were prompt and got the job done.

In reading on the other forums my impression is that most of the things they were called on, tongue jack problems, flat trailer tire etc were things most of us would have just handled and been on our way

I have Good Sam as well. Have not had to use the roadside assistance yet, but it covers all my vehicles even when not towing.

We had Good Sam for years. We never had to use it. We changed to Coach Net. Locked the keys in the truck in the middle of Arches NP. Coach Net had someone there from Moab in 40 minutes. That was after I had to climb to the top of a hill to get cell service. LOL

I have had Coach Net for 14 years. It came as part of the deal when I bought my 40 foot motorhome. Coach Net knows my motorhome and when I have needed road service, that being 4 times, they send a tow truck that can handle my motorhome. One time I needed a tow of nearly 100 miles. The tow truck driver disconnected my drive shaft and locked the parking brake open before towing. At the destination, the driver reinstalled the drive shaft and unlocked the parking brake. I was not charged a penny, but I did tip the driver for his attention to detail. I have Coach Net for my motorhome, but the service also includes any of my other vehicles. I will not drive without Coach Net road service.

I have been lucky so far and haven't had to call for help. Good Sam must think I have a policy with them because I get a renewal notice every other day. I do have USAA's roadside assist. Has anyone had ocassion to use them?
