RV AC Help Needed

No more full timing in North, North Dakota

AAA is what I have, but I have never used it for my Harley or RV towing. I upgraded it for my Harley and 5th wheel with a 100 mile radius. But the biggest advantage for AAA? Is I'm immune to DMV, except for my true commercial C&C registration, but I can mail it in if I needed to, but it sure keeps me out of DMV. :-laf

I have been lucky so far and haven't had to call for help. Good Sam must think I have a policy with them because I get a renewal notice every other day. I do have USAA's roadside assist. Has anyone had ocassion to use them?

I've used USAA roadside assist for cars two times and both times the response was prompt. The events were in two different states and neither time did I have to pay anything. Supposedly going through your insurance company for roadside assistance counts as a claim and may raise your insurance rates, but I haven't asked USAA about that yet.

Just recently signed up for AAA through a mailer they sent. When the cards and benefit pamphlet arrived come to find out the towing distance is something stupid short (only 5 miles) and it doesn't include a trailer. Surprise number two: if it is out of state I have to pay the service provider and then get reimbursed. Now to find out how much more to get a reasonable towing distance or just cancel it.

AAA will tow you to the nearest repair facility on the standard coverage. So if you are in the middle of nowhere it can be a lot more miles than the 6mi.Does anyone cover rv's for no increased premium ?

I do all the recoveries and repairs to our vehicles so I'd want them towed home, not to some unknown repair facility. I joined AAA as a backup for the wife and the kids that are at college so if I'm not around they have someone to call. I assumed that since AAA is everywhere there would be no money exchanged for services anywhere in the USA. Once the door is opened for the responding driver to charge something I can easily envision the wife or kids being talked into more fees or services that they do not need. I don't own an RV, but do occasionally tow utility trailers or the car hauler, which would not be covered under the basic AAA. I can live with that, but on the whole it seems that the basic AAA membership is next to useless so I'm mad at myself for falling for the marketing hype. The devil is in the details. Sometimes I am such a dumb *****

As I stated earlier I have always had Good Sam. While Traveling in California I had 2 tires seperating on the 5ver. Called Good Sam, gave them the details and they had a tire shop show up in a parking lot busting and replacing tires. I had to pay for the tires of course. The Daughters car decided to let the timing belt let loose a few miles from home, when the flat bed showed up the driver asked " Where do you want me to drop it off ", I like others had it taken to the house and the guy dropped it off in the driveway where I did the repairs. I lost a spring from a pothole in Oklahoma with a 27' travel trailer on the Interstate, called Good Sam and 30 minutes later 2 guys show up with a spring and replace it on the side of the road. Moral of the story is that I am very pleased with Good Sam.
