Got a good Cummins vs. PSD story for you guys. Here on Kauai the terrain is very rainy, muddy and hilly in the in the mountains. In fact Kauai has the rainiest spot on earth, about 400 something inches a year. Cattle is a large industry over here, but closer the to the ocean the land is too expensive for pasture. The problem is the farther you go towards the mountains the more hilly, muddy and rainy it gets. We had to go catch about 7 weaners to ship out on the barge, and we picked about the worst day to do it. It had been really nice and dry up there for about a week which is very rare. So they had decided to grade this really long kinda steep hill that leads down to a corral. To make this road look nicer the "soft floated" a bunch of loose dirt on top of this road, about 6" to a foot worth of dirt. So to make a short story long;) im pulling a live stock trailer, another friend has a 97 cummins with 4 horses in his trailer, and another friend has a new PSD with 2 horses in his trailer. He had been bragging for about a month about how much power and how much "balls" his truck had. As i reach the crest of this hill to go down by the corral i knew we were in trouble. About half way down i started feeling this trailer push me down the hill, so i just kep it straight all the way down. Get down on the bottom, and managed to get out of the way of the other 2 trucks. Catch and load all the cows up and im chosen to go first up the hill. There is no where to get a run at this hill, so you i had to start from a stand still, I just put the ol Dodge into 4 high and my poor Wrangler A/T's started up the hill, throwing mud, rocks and grass about 30 feet into the air, Slowly but surely i crawled my way up this hill, the only casuality was my cooler that got knocked over. I look back at my poor 7 cows, now covered head to toe in about 3 inches of mud, and start praying these guys can make it out. Next comes my other friends Dodge. He trys to get a running start, trying to clean of his BFG A/T's. His climb is even more slow and messy than mine, those poor A/T's didnt have a chance cleaning the mud but he made it to the top. This whole time over the "talkabout" radios all you hear over the radio is my friend yelling and heckling us about making it up. So he is next, with his trailer and 2 horses. His truck is supposed to be the "offroad version" and he put on Pro Comp M/T's. His truck starts off in 4 Low, and he starts going through the gears, (6 speed) He gets about 1/3 the way up and i notice only 1 of his front tires are even trying to spin. Low and behold he stops right there, still in 4th gear, full throttle. Trys to make another run at the hill and backs down only to jacknife his rig, he has started getting "F U"s over the radio because we have to go down and help him and it is raining cats and dogs. We go and unload his horses trying to lighten the load, ... . no such luck, only tires spinning. Well my friend jumps on one the horses takes his cowboy rope, hooks it onto the tow hook and dallys up. This poor horse is slipping and sliding trying to pull this truck out of this rut enough to get it some head way again, sure enough it makes it out and slowly, with the help of the horse a few more times makes it up and out. After several minutes of cussing and good natured ribbing we get the heck out of there. To this day we dont here one thing about how much "balls" his PSD has. We have to constantly remind him that ford should have put one more horsepower under the hood. Sorry for the long story, and i know it doesnt have any real meaning on superiority on trucks, but it always goot to hear these kind of storys. Signing off from the aloha state.

Aloha
