Been a way for awhile, but its good to get back to TDR and all the neat info.

I just rolled over 230,000 and am thinking maybe I should have the injector pump overhauled. Still goes, but not as good as she used to. Suspect the front pump seal might be leaking. Is there anyway to tell other than oil test?

1990 250 LE stock. :)

front pump seal

If it fails like mine did, you will have about 18 quarts in the crankcase in ten miles! You will notice the idiot light flashing at idle. I removed my pump myself and a diesel shop in Jackson, Tennesse replaced the seal for $15 parts and labor! He would not quote a price before the job because he said some pumps need a new shaft and that means a complete rebuild.

Thanks for the input. The oil level in crankcase does not come up but oil seems to be too thin when I change. Milage has dropped quite a bit so something not right. Injectors are firing but dont know how good. No smoke and starts instantly but lacks power and speed. Had it "tweaked" awhile back but didnt help much.

Will pull and injector and see how it looks.

thanks again.

I had the same problem with thin oil... I changed my oil checked it after i started it and it was 5 quarts over... The injector pump was leaking and dmping fuel into my oil...
