Give me some feedback.

I thought my HY was going to be alittle small as my unloaded temps can hit 900-1000 fairly easy. Now we are in towing and camping season (and it warmed up here!) I don't want to run into heat issues.

So I purchased a used stock HX-35W off an '02 HO. Tight and only 40,000mi on it. I'm thinking this will keep temps in check even with a load and lag should be minimal. Power upgrades are done for me 1. 5's and EZ provide all the power I need for what I use the truck for.

What are your opinions. I think it will be great for my power and my needs.

An HX 35/40 hybrid would be better, but you should be OK. If all else, you can always disconnect the data plug on the EZ if the temps get too hot and just run it as a boost fooler.

Is your pyro before or after the turbo? Big diffference!

IMO, you are at the edge of needing a hx40, but you will get smoke on spool up.

I am using a hx35/14 right now and need to watch the temps at the end of a run. Have seen them up to 1300 or so. This is pre-turbo temps.

Thinking of trying some EDM's maybe mach 2's and putting the hx40 from piers back on it. I really like the top end pull I have with the hx 40!! It is not there with the hx 35.

Pat, you could send that HX to Piers for a PDR-35 upgrade. 58 mm compressor wheel and retains the 24 valve style compressor housing so you can run the original 12 cm exhaust housing. No need to run a HX-40 with your power mods.

Boyd.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured that if by some chance this turbo was too small it has upgradability that the HY didn't have, but I think I should be fine. More of a precautionary more for me I think. My EGT's read pre-turbo.
