Problems I can expect with this?

I found that a long time ago and had to chuckle at it. First shot of the actual work and the trans and transfer case are magically removed. I think he missed a key step there..

Thanks for helpful videos GCroyle. Praire Dog's other video suggestion made me look at your YouTube page where there are lots of good resources. Also a great video on clutch hydraulic system replacement with what looks like better components.

I bought that aftermarket kit and while it was nicely made and fit perfect, it transmitted a TON of vibration back through the clutch pedal. It was especially annoying in stop and go traffic.
I ended up taking it back just a week after installing it and going the stock route.

Prarie Dog,

Vibration. Engine running, trans in N, vehicle stationary. Increase engine RPM up, down, hold, etc. Feel any vibrations? That's a clutch or flywheel vibration for this discussion.

Vibration with your toe on the clutch pedal? Pulsation feel? Trans in N, stationary. Just a bit of pedal. That tends to clue to the fingers being really uneven and the TOB is pulsating in and out, sorta pumping almost.

Here's the tougher one. Chatter. a series of mini slip/engagement cycles from a standing start, 1st or REV. The list of possibles for this one is pretty long. But for diagnostic purposes, greatly diminishes as you shift into taller gears and while rolling it is not apparent. One thing to keep in mind, a clutch doesn't know what gear you are in, no feedback. Its all the same TURN THE SHAFT or DON'T TURN THE SHAFT. Yes Skipper.

Gear noise, trans rattle etc. The torsion damper of any disc tries to filter noise out from being CREATED in the trans due to accel and decel pulsations from the crank. That output ain't as smooth as your tach shows.

Friction material. Some are smooth, some are agressive. Some you don't want to pull the Sweet Potatoe Princess, her court and float down main street with in a slow parade.

Knowing what type clutch (not asking for details) how it is supposed to work, what its rated and suggested for has a lot to do with what to expect.

You don't expect that Monster Mudder tires will be as smooth or quiet as your favorite highway M/S tires. So you pick the system that best suits your needs and then drum roll please all the attention to detail required to do the job right.

IF you could see any clutch companies hall of shame parts, you'd say we're making it all up.

Had a guy yesterday wanting to put washers under the clutch cover to FW bolts to make it work. A veteran tech to boot per customer. A good while back one guy used so much loctite on the bolts it oozed out and bonded the facings to the FW.

And our Dodge's and now Rams have I think the longest running hand shaker of any Diesel engine PU, the G56 since about mid '05 11 plus years and still ticking. And the last hand shaker of any full size PU.
