Why Can't I Paint?

i'm needing new work boots and was wondering what everyone wears and what is the most confortable. I've gone through 2 pairs of pull on steel toe doc martens in a litle over a year and a half, so i want to try something different, more comfortable as well; maybe redwings or tony lamas? I need pull-on,steel toe. thanks for any suggestions.

Check this thread for starters. Personally, I have a few pairs of Redwings and like them very much, but they are lace ups, not slip ons.

If your looking for the best boot around for work its RedWing hands down.

But comfort and stoutness usually dont go hand in hand.

i switched to the timberland pro work boot about a year ago and these by far are the most comfortable boot i have worn.

Ditto on the Timberland Pro. I wore Red Wings since I started working (1989) and switched this year. It just seem that the last few pairs of Red Wings I got didn't hold up like they used to. The Timberland Pro's are lighter in my size (14) than the Red Wings. And they seem to be holding up better. But hey just my opinion and that and a $1. 00 will get you a cup of coffee right? -Jason

I'm a big fan of the Redback boots that you can get from the Matco dealer. They are pull on, very light and last forever. I've had a pair for 3 years. I've got another pair that I bought about 1. 5 years ago so I could switch back and forth due to the fact that my feet sweat a TON.

Red Wing. I have two pairs. They are steel toe lace-up. They are not cheap, but I do not buy cheap. You get what you pay for. They are comfortable and they last. They are some of the few factory made boots still made in USA.

my favorite boots so far are the 04244 wolverine durashocks, i go through boots quickly, a pair of industrial dr martens lasted 6-8 months before i wore the soles to the point they leak water in, regular wolverines (not durashock) don't last 6 months, i got better then a year and a half (new record by a good amount) out of the last pair and these look like they will do that or better, heres what they look like http://www.shoeteria.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1239 this sole design is important, some of the others will split east-west across the ball of your foot (6 months to a year usually), the current pair i got for half that on ebay, the first was around $125 at a sports store

Redwings... been wearing 'em for almost 20 years. Have had several pair resoled, comfortable and take alot of abuse. Won't buy anything else... .

I love my Redwings. Check eBay for some good deals. There is always someone on there with a pair for sale that they bought, wore a couple of times, and decided they don't fit. That's where I bought the 3 pair I have now.

I have 4441 Redwings, I have been wearing this model of boot for about 8 years now and I've probably had 4 or 5 pair. Most of the time they aren't worn out but it's a new year and the company buys me new ones. The only complaint I have is the soles, they can be slippery in certain conditions, more so than other boots. Check em out HERE

I had a set of redwing hunting boots. Mind you I only wear them maybe every ever weekend when I am out in the woods. In the first 3 months the stiching came out and boot "opened up". Sure they replaced them for free. the next set lasted around 3 months and the sole cracked right where your foot bends. The redwind guy said "its hard to make a sole that don't crack when your making aggressive tread". Knowing that was the first pair of boots with "aggressive tread" I ever had the sole crack on I cut my loss and bought my first pair of Chippewas. It only takes one pair of Junk $150. 00 boots to turn you away from a manufacture.

I got my first pair of Redwings in 78. I've had 2 other pair since. All steel toe lace ups. They weren't always the most comfortable, until broken in. After that, they were like a part of my foot. The last pair I bought had a Goodyear Aqua-Tred sole. Strangest thing I ever saw. I told people I got them so I wouldn't hydroplane.

Last fall, I was going through my late step-dad's belongings. He was a pipeline welder and had all kinds of Carhartts and other stuff from jobs he worked. I think it was in their contract that they were provided this stuff, as some of it had never been worn. He was much smaller than me, so I couldn't wear any of the clothes.

He did have a pair of Caterpillar (like the equipment) steel toed lace ups. It looked like they were worn for a wekk or two. I tried them on and they are very comfortable. They are also insulated, so I couldn't wear them this summer.

However, looking at the construction, I doubt very seriously that they will be around as long as my Redwings.

people are sure liking thier Redwings, my first pair were great, and the next three pair sucked big time. Luckily work buys them and I was able to turn them in and it did not cost me a dime, just some foot and leg pain.

I say spend the money and get Whites, Nicks, or Kulien boots, all of them make boots with an approved safety toe. They are all very spendy but can be totally rebuilt, not just a resole, so the cost of the boots over time is not that bad.

Take care of your feet and they will take care of you.
