Smarty for RV's?

Just finished loading my 05 Alpenlite Cheyenne truck camper on a truck. It is gone, after lots of miles and smiles. Hope the new rig treats us as good. Kind of hard to see it go.

I am having a Platinum Coach (think horse trailer) built with a custom interior by Outlaw. Kind of like a all aluminum HD toy hauler. It will have 16' of cargo in the rear and 13' of living quarter in the front. I got tired of pushing all of that wind out of the way with the truck camper, going to the gooseneck hitch with a much lower profile should help with the fuel somewhat. Platinum Coach home page The link will show the general idea. We are going to go to pick it up in February at the plant near Fort Worth Texas. Way 2 excited.

Are you going squeeze that big International 1066 pulling tractor in the cargo area? Different kind of "horses"... iron horses:-laf

I pulled several of those all aluminum gooseneck living quarter horse trailers out of OK back toward IN as backhauls when I was transporting. Might have been made by Platinum but not sure of the brand name now.

The ones I hauled towed like a dream. Relatively light for large trailers and very aero-dynamic compared to the ordinary RV trailers I usually pulled. I remember pulling one like you've ordered one day when I was in a hurry to get back to IN for some reason. The speed limit on the Okie turnpike is 75 mph so I set my cruise on 79mph and ran from OKC to Joplin in what seemed like a very short time. I would never have done that with an ordinary trailer but an empty aluminum trailer like that felt like no load.

Maybe not the 1066

Dont think that that hasnt crossed my mind, however even the much smaller 666 puller of mine will not fit into the trailer:mad:. Gonna be hauling the quad and other stuff, We are going to be on the road somewhere between 130 to 150 inghts a year.

Do you still have the D312 in the 666 or have you installed something else?

The little 666 spent its early life as a fork lift tractor on a flower bulb farm. I rescued it and tore off all of the nonessential parts, hydraulics,PTO,3 point etc. The 312 is basically stock with the exception of ARP rod bolts, a HOT fuel pump, injectors and a home built turbo manifold. The charger is a Schwitzer 3-LM 466 unit. The little fart really is a screamer, although it is only running about 3700 free rpms. I have contemplated installing a 414 or 466 but until the rest of the class catches up there is little point. Besides the fact that the extra weight would have to be compensated for with more aluminum parts. FUN FUN FUNOo.
