Just want to pass it on, I installed a set of these tires today and they made a BIG differance on ride quality. Actually pretty smooth over the expansion joints, much smoother than stock. The tire place has a dynamic load balancer and they seem to run smooth. I don't really tow anything so I can't vouch for that, but they seem to handle real nice. They do stick out slightly from the wheel wells, but look nice.

Hey Fritz!

Which model Goodyear 305/70R/16's did you purchase?

I have been running the Goodyear Wrangler MT's (305/70R/16) on a set of Vision (Alcoa look-a-likes) 16 X 10 aluminum wheels for two months now. These tires are mounted on a 1992 First generation truck & do provide an improved ride, but with increased road noise due to the aggressive tread design. I believe some of the improvement in ride is from dropping a load range (from "E" to "D") due to the less stiff side walls.

The reason I'm inquiring about your purchase is that my tires are showing extreme wear characteristics with only 5000 miles of use. I stopped by the Goodyear dealer yesterday to express my concerns. I have lost 4/32" of tread in 5000 miles with a rotation at 2500 miles. The wear pattern is perfectly even shoulder to shoulder, just like it should be, but an 1/8" every 5000 is unacceptable in my book. At this rate the tires will be shot in 20,000 miles.

My local Goodyear dealer is the best tire store I've ever done business with and they said they will stand behind these tires if replacement is neccesary. And I know they will from past experience.

I'm starting to wonder if this truck is just too heavy for a "D" rated mud tire? But, as you said they sure look nice poking out of the wheel wells!

David,
I'll look for you. Can you drop me an email with the location time/date of the meet.

Keeno,
I guess I forgot to mention they are the ATS tires. I think they are agressive enough for my purposes. Had about another 100 miles on them today and I think you are right about them running smoother because of the load range D rating. Made a big differance for me. They do feel ever so slightly vague when making tiny steering inputs going down the highway at speed as compared to the stock tires. But this is a small compromise for the improved ride and looks. I also installed the Mickey Thompson challanger Wheels. Man are those wheels Keen! I think they look real nice on a Dodge truck. Time will tell how well the balancing holds up.
Take care,
Fitz

Hey Fritz!

Thanks for the info on your Goodyear's! I will probably go to more AT tire if these tires are indeed worn out in the projected 20,000 miles. If Goodyear warrantys these tires, I check out the ATS's to see if more rubber on the road solves my excessive wear problems.

Thanks! Keeno
