JUST GOT BACK FROM A TRIP TO GULFSHORES. ABOUT 2/3 THE WAY THERE,THE LEFT REAR TRAILER TIRE BLEW. ABOUT 2/3 THE WAY HOME,THE RIGHT REAR TRAILER TIRE BLEW[GETTING GOOD AT CHANGING TIRES ON I-10]. TIRES "LOOKED GOOD" with 50 #'s ON THEM BOTH TIMES. ANYBODY AWARE OF ANY RECALLS ON GOODYEAR TRAILER TIRES?LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT HELPFULL.

Said it before, sayin' it again... . any tire that says 'Goodyear' on the sidewall and it isnt a racing slick... . pretty much sucks! I lent my Ram to a buddy to haul an extra race car to the track, and I am using his TDI Jetta... it's a fantastic little car, but the Goodyears are just gawdawful!!!!! They arent round, wont stay round and are super noisey!

Goodyear tires

Is your trailer setting level front to rear when hitched? The new trucks are higher than most older ones, so if you don't correct the hitch height you can overload the rears on the trailer. There is surprisingly little suspension travel in most RV trailers.

The original Goodyear tires on my travel trailer gave me excellent service for seven years in all kinds of weather. I even towed in desert conditions out in Las Vegas with the ambient temperature over 110 degrees. I replaced them because that is pretty much the end of the service life of a 'trailer service' tire.

I believe it was the 225/75R-15 Load Range D Goodyear Marathons without the circle S that were covered by a silent recall (don't hold me to the exact size - I'm a victim of CRS syndrome!) :D

We had one of these tires fail on our previous 5ver. Goodyear replaced the tires and paid for the damage to our 5ver.

Rusty

Sounds fishy Rusty. Mine are Marathon Radials ST 225/75 R-15. I'm trying to reach a human to talk to with Goodyear. Did quite a bit of damage to my trailer too. Keep in touch.

Rusty, is correct, if they are 225/75R15 Load Range D, Goodyear will fix your trailer and replace all your tires that do not have the circle S following the Marathon Radial. Snow King

Goodyear replaced all 5 of my trailer tires. They ADJUSTED the 2 that did not show belt failure. A set of 5 tires with mounting etc. cost me $115. Tires were 3 years old.

Nice Blimp..

The only thing that Goodyear does well is fly their blimp. Maybe that's where all the customer service people are (which is why you can never get a hold of them) I will never buy goodyear again after being burned- even made the dealer take em off our van before I would buy it!!

Recently completed a 4000 mile trip towing a 7 ton 5th wheel, the last segment of which brought me back over the Donner Pass. While cruising down highway 99 (central CA), less than 100 miles from home, the tread on my right rear tow vehicle tire separated, but didn't blow. Sounded like someone set off a stick of dynamite in the bed of the truck. Was able to safely manuever off the freeway to a side road. Spare was mounted and was on my way in about an hour. Damage to truck was near $2,500, but Goodyear made good on my claim after completing a bushel of paperwork and signing a release. Tires (Wrangler, LT 245/75R16) had nearly 39,000 miles, but lots of tread wear remaining. I'm just grateful that the incident didn't occur in the mountains and that the tire didn't blow. Probably will not replace tires with Goodyear.

/ Bought a 95 5 th wheel came with orignal 225/75 R15 without a circle S after the word marathon ,they were according to GooD Year (by sn) I first called the 1 800 322 4682 told them I felt that the tires were not safe after hearing stories of thred seperation . The rep said to go to local Good Year shop for exchange or adjustment . Local shop replaced four tires for a cost of four dollars Kentucly fee for disposal of used tires. NO hassel they use a computer print out of theansaction with the main office all very easy signed for the replacement paid the four and am happy the exchange was completed two at a time as I could not move trailer at the time . I couldent ask for better treatment . The Tires were six years old but had little ware . HOPE you have a good luck . Goodyear tires

Just got done talking to a Goodyear Dealer in Spokane Wa. He said if it didn't have the circle around the S after Marathon that they were part of a recall. Of course they are 75 miles away and I am leaveing Fri on vacation. Closest dealer is 35 miles away and they only have 3 in stock. Guess I will try and get them replaced on the trip.

I have the Goodyear Work Horse (formerly Wranglers) 9:50/16. 5 load range "E" on my fiver. I have gone through all the originals which were Wranglers. Three catastrophic blow outs and one tread seperation. Two of them damaging the skirting. All those that blew out were over four years old.

The "Work Horse" tires have been holding up and have only had a nail puncture so far. I have talked to tire dealers all over the country and most have suggested replacing heavy trailer tires every four years to play it safe.

I don't think a trailer over 5,000 lbs should ever use anything less than a load range "E" (ten ply) in order to be on the safe side. It can get real exciting when a trailer tire blows out.

When I replace my current tires I am going for a 12 ply if I can find them.

I had 4 tires blow with the marathons before I found out that Goodyr would replace them. I also had damage to the skirting which I repaired at my cost. After I had the last tire problem I asked for the regional manager and explained that with mounting a balancing which was charged each time they replace a tire and the damage to my trailer I was out $250 because they made bad tires. They paid those expenses also. If I were in the possition again I would refuse to pay any expense incurred by their faulty tires. I found that if you push they back down immediately, however you need to do this with the main office or someone in charge, since the local dealer really are not that familiar with the problem unless they sell alot of trailer tires or truck tires. My dealer was a truck tire dealer and he knew nothing about the "recall" until I showed him an article from the internet. He called Goodyr and sure enough all tires were replaced. My new 5th wheel has Goodyr. G159's. These are 14ply with steel sidewalls. I also put two on the rear of my ram just for extra capacity. Wouldn't you know the first long trip I had a problem with one of those, I caught it just before it was ready to blow at a rest area while checking tire pressures. It appears to be a fluke problem with that tire, they determined that it was not properly cured. I have had no problems with any of the others and I have towed about 7000 miles since that problem. Good luck and don't pay any money.
