Trailer tires

Getting ready to hit the road (Oct 10) for a month long vacation towing the 5er. Curious if any one out there has run the Goodyear G159 tires on their trucks. I am thinking about picking up a set for the rear of my 2500. Going to DC then Orlando then back home. Sometimes I am a little nervous making these long trips on single rear tires, using E load range tires. My Michelin's seem to have awfully soft sidewalls, although I have had no problems as yet.

Rick :)

I was looking at them, a local school bus place runs them on there 3500 van type school busses and have great luck with them. Some have told me that the steel belted sitewall will make your truck ride so rough that you will need to hand out barf bags to the passangers. One friend put them on his 2500 construction pickup, and said they are tough to handle at times because they follow the cracks in the roads a lot. Plus they were not avalable in the 245-75-16, only in the 235-80-16.

I ended up buying Cooper SRM-II's, they are load range E, came in the stock 245 size, with a 60K mile tread wear warrantee for around $110. 00 each.

I now have 40K miles on them, and they are about 1/2 worn down. I would buy cooper SRM-II's again in a heart beat!

Now I have no experence with the other cooper tires for 4wd's. , just the Super Road Master-II's, which are a highway rib type tire, even though they have M/S ratting.

I also tow a upwards to 11K 5th wheel running 55psi front, 80 Psi rear with my 2500. I run 35-40psi rear empty and they ride (and wear) nice.
