I'm planning a tire upgrade, and am thinking of Goodyear MTR"s. 285 75 16. I was considering 315 75 16, but I think I would need a lift. Any way does anyone had any comments on these tires?

Plowboy, As you can see I have a set on right now the 315 size. Yes, I believe you will need a 2" front lift to make them work. I really like the tires the traction is very good in most any off road condition and not bad in the snow as long as they are fairly new. The are amazingly quite for a bold tread traction tire. The down side and this maybe fixed by now is they were HARD to balance. I went through 7 tire to get 4 that would balance. Not good. I would not hesitate to buy another set in fact I will buy a set for my jeep this summer. I think i will try the new Nitto if I can find them. Dave

I've had 285 MTR's since December, relatively quiet for a mud terrain tire and no balance problems at all. I'm a little concerned about the wear, probably 80% fronts and 60% rears with only 11000km on them. I had them siped for ice/compact snow and this may have increased the wear somewhat.

I've had mine for about a year now and they are wearing ok, but are not the greatest to balance. I think I've got alot of weight on them to make em smooth. Mine got pretty cut up from driving in the mountain trails are some of the lugs are ripped up pretty badly. They throw rocks like a school yard bratt. I've had rocks come out of the front tires, bounce off the Hwy in front of me and slam into my windshield  All in all they are a good off road tire and are the quietest off road tire I've owned. Not sure if I'll replace them with the same again. . or something a little cheaper. I've had cooper discoverers and for the money they were great tires, they were near half of the cost of the MTR's.

Good luck...

Hey Plowboy-315's fit just fine on my truck without a lift-they were not MTR's though so I can't say without a doubt that they'll work on yours.....

How are things going in your part of the world Oakley? Trying to do a rain-dance for you guys..... sounds like everything north of Edmonton is on fire-at least according to the media. Dry as a popcorn fart down here too-hopefully the rain they're talking about for the weekend comes to pass as we need it bad!
