I tried calling DC about it and they claim that they have no information on it at all. I even tried to explain how "wavey" the sidewalls are and they still wouldn't budge. Next week I thought that I would try to persuade the Goodyear dealer and see if I have any luck with them (i. e. "silent recall"). I am going to ask them to give me a written notice stating that my tires are safe enough to carry my slide-in camper in which the truck was purchased for. I'm not expecting much, but we'll see. Ticks me off that this thing will be in the courts until long after we have all replaced our tires.

Guys i work at a Goodyear dealer as a tech, and have not heard problems with the rts,but rather it was the HT Wrangler. They have since corrected any problems. Indintations in the side walls are ok. That is where the tire is seamed together. On the other hand any buldges are bad news, and those tires should be replaced.

I called Goodyear about all of this in the media. They told me that it was a problem back in 97 and the problems have been corrected and there is not recall. I also called my dealer and several tire stores locally and they all said they have not heard of any recall on the load range E tires.

I've got about 56k on the RT/S's my truck came with. At about 20-25k the truck developed a hard pull to the right when going down the road. After rotating the tires the pull disappeared.

A couple of weeks ago I lost part of the tread off of the right rear tire. The tire did not lose air, and I was able to safely get off of the highway and change it. I can't help but wonder if it was the tire which was causing the pull when it was on the front. The other tires still appear to have plenty of tread left, but I'm going to go ahead and replace them anyway- probably with Michelins.

Yes, the Wrangler HT tires do and have given problems. On my 97 Hitchhiker II 5er which was equipped with LT215/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler HTs, I had one blow out and another throw a tread. The tire that threw the tread still had 80 PSI in it. The trailer has been weighed and the tires weren't overloaded and I meticously maintain 80 PSI pressure. Both times they did a number on the plastic fender trim. Goodyear warranted the tires but wouldn't pay for the repairs(no past history of problems with this tire--LT235s yes, but LT215s no).

I took care of the problem--bought a set of Michelin XPS and no more tire problems. I have had Goodyear Wranglers(no HTs) on my last 3 Dodges from the factory and they gave 0 problems and got very good mileage out of them.

One of the factory Michelin 265/75 LTX A/S tires on my truck has a radial "ripple" in the sidewall running from the wheel to the tread, about 1 3/4" wide. The ripple isn't very "high" - only 1/8" or so, and you can hardly see it at all unless the tire has some low-angle winter sunlight hitting it from behind on a cool winter day. :)

Should I be concerned? The tires have 15K miles on them any plenty of tread left. Maybe I should have the tire busted off and replaced with my spare?

There is a problem with the Load Range E RTS tires. I have seen it on the net where goodyear said "we fixed the problem in 97" but then I have heard things on the news about 137 people getting killed and it was all the RTS load range E tires to present.

at different times, 4 of my orginal 5 got bubbles in the sidewall right above the tire bead. The bubble was in the outer rubber and would pop within a week or so. If you don't watch your tires you may never see the bubbles.

I used to mark the tires where the bubble was, then after it would pop, you could stick your finger in the hole where the bubble was and feel a seperation in the sidewalls.

They adjusted all 4, but still cost me around $80. 00 each (for a tire with 1/2 the tread left, that is bad)

Now I run Cooper SRM-II's and love them!

St. Louis Assy; Was your vehicle assembled in St. Louis with Goodyear tires? I thought all Ram Diesels had Mitchelin tires. If they use Goodyear in St. Louis, I am glad mine was assembeled with pride and Mitchelin's in Mexico. !!!
